I am looking to get the best wake out of my x-star and I could use some advice from anyone who has experimented with this boat.
I always fill the factory ballast (2 rear, 1 center tank) and sometimes fill a fat sac in the bow (500lbs). I also plumbed in 2 V-drive bags (750lbs) in the rear storage.
I am looking to get the most vertical wake possible (duh...) so, more ballast in the front, rear, or even?
Thanks for the help!

It is my understanding that putting weight in the rear will raise your vertical, make it more rampy. However, you do need to keep some weight in the front. There was a big article on this in wbm magazine recently. However, with all that weight I would think your wake is big enough already. Especially with the front/bow sac. _________________ Check out https://www.facebook.com/darcizzleoffshore |

Thanks for the info. I did see that article in WBM but I was hoping to get some feedback on the X-star specific setup from some X-star owners.
About the V-drive bags, it's pretty ghetto fabulous....
I took the line that fills the factory tanks and put a "T" joint with valves on it. This way I can direct the water into either the tank or the bag. To empty I put an Attwood pump ($15 at wal-mart!) on the other end of the bag and ran a line to the factory empty line. It's nice not having to throw pumps over or switch stuff around to drain. The pumps, hose, T joints and clamps all cost under $50 to do the job.
Again, a little ghetto, but it works great. |
