Pylon on my boat...

What do you guys think.....we have a 1994 caravelle, no weight except for human weight. wake is ok.....should i put a pylon on it??what you think?...i'd put a tower on, but that is too much money for me..

i would def get a pylon. but what i found is that a good rope is more important than a high towpoint. out of all equipment, here how i would rank them by importance

1.boat wake
2.rope
3.tow point
4.board
5.bindings
6.handle

so i would go ahead and look for a pylon around $400.

Bigfoot is right on, get a non streach rope becuase the transition to better wakes is a lot easier with one. His #1 will come in time but you need #2 first. I have a rider I go with regularly that always disses my handle but he's just whining!

I also agree with the rope being very important. As for the pole I would say get it! Why not? Sack it up and trim the motor up for a better wake as well.

Check out eBay for Pylons as people sell them their when they go to a tower. Also check out www.diyTower.com where that is plans for you to make a pylon.

thanks, i have a nonstretch rope already, the guy threw it in w/ my board. How much are sacks/extra weight?

depends on what you want. I got all my sacs off ebay. I got a bg sac 600 pound with cover for around $70-80 and there are bug bump sacs 750 pounds w/ buy it now price of $63. Covers are like $29 shipped. Then you need a pump $40 and up.

Yes, get a pylon. In your boat it will make space a little tight. It will be worth it. Being pulled from eight feet above the water really helps. Remember THE ROPE SEEKS LEVEL.

If you check my profile, I think there's a pic of my pylon. It's 8' tall, cost about $75. The cables are all 3/16" vinyl coated nico-pressed around thimbles then secured in the stern with "quick link" carribeener type fittings and uses a double cable running forward to a ratchet system. I drilled NO holes, the thing sits in the bottom of the boat and DOES NOT move. Does not affect seating at all.

I have a pylon I made myself, that I am getting rid of, similar to wes' pole but I used two ratcheting straps in back and a heavy one up front. My pole is made from a 8 ft stainless steel pole! The only reason I am getting rid of it is because I am getting a tower! This setup worked great on my bayliner, and made a huge difference, especially teaching first timers! I have a 1998 Caravelle 212 Interceptor. I installed a Skylon this summer and I love it. The biggest negative is the braces that run to the rear cross the back seat making two seats unusable. Boarding with the Skylon is great, just be aware the cable to the front and the 2 braces to the rear make getting around the boat a pain.
