|
| Fellas--I need to get some new tires. I have some 32/11.5 R 15 BFG All-terrain's, they did the job well and lasted a long time. I'm just wondering if anyone else has a brand or specific tire I should look into. I'm not opposed to a mud-terrain tire, but don't want to sacrafice tread life too much. Anybody have experiences with BFG M/T's, Dick Cepek's, Mickey's or any others?

| i had BFG's mt's 33/ 10.5, they were cool and all but the vibration was bad when you went over like 50, plus the wear from street driving is bad,...i would stick with all terrains

NAW:
I've tried alot of tires in my day on several different 4x4's. The only ones that I have found that work and last as long as the BFG all-terrain is the BFG all-terrain. I have tried the Mickeys, Pro-Comps, Swampers, Gumbos, Goodyears, BFG Mud-terrains, and none of them have been worth the money as much as the BFG all-terrain. I hear that BFG has a new mud-terrain KO that is supposed to be as good as the all-terrain KO, but no one I know has actually jumped into a set of those yet. I just put a second set of all-terrain KO's on my Tahoe 2 weeks ago, and I am totally stoked! Super grip, with no road noise. I love them!

i've had bfg m/ts, bridgestone dueler m/ts and a/ts, super swamper tsl's, cooper discoverer a/ts, kelly safari a/ts, and pahtfinder a/tr's and my favs were the bridgestone dueler a/ts and the cooper descoverer a/ts. the pahtfinders and super swampers were by far the worst.
all of these tires were size 285/75R16 except the super swampers which were 38/12.50R16
i would say go with the bfg a/t, cooper a/t or bridgestone a/t for a good tire with decent treadlife.

I would have to say Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs... it's a very good tire and looks really good!!

cool, cool...the A/T KO's are some bad mofo's. I was surprised how well they did off road too, although I don't spend much time off-road, I still play in the mud here and there. I've looked at the Cooper A/T's and the Bridgestone A/T's, but they don't look nearly aggressive as the KO. I'd have to go with a MT in both those brands to get that look, but then the wear becomes a factor.

| I have the the bridgestone dueler mt's. I like them a lot. Only problem with them is that the biggest size they make them is 285 x 75 x 16. (its about 31 1/2 inchs)

For mud terrain I'd go with Goodyear, they have badass tread, that looks good and last pretty long compared to others.
But right now I'm running the BFG All-terrain and I'm happy with those too, but I miss the big tread!! I want to try boggers, are they pretty good??

| I have the Mickey Thompson HP's. They have the aggresive side tred with a street tread for the road. Really good for offroad and street. I like them cause they look good and have a good tread wear.

I agree with everyone else's comments - I've had 5 sets of ATs now and have yet to be disappointed. I've also run BFG M/Ts & Swamper Boger TSLs (35s) back in the day on my old truck. Both of them were good mud tires but made huge amounts of noise & vibration when traveling on the highway. My advice is stick with the A/Ts.
BTW - My Swampers are for sale (35 X 12.5). They are basically brand new tires (<5000 miles) and I don't need them anymore. Anyone interested?

| Mud Terrain tires look cool but for me thats all they ever did. Everytime ive been stuck it wouldnt have mattered if i had a super swamper bogger or a cooper disovererer a/t. i would have still been stuck. After going through several sets of tires i will probably never buy another set of mud terrain tires for a daily driver vehicle. If you want a good tire that wil perform as well as any but not look as cool go with the cooper discoverer or brisgestone dueler a/t. others that i havent owned that seem to be good are the bfg a/t and the yokohama geolander a/t. all are reasonably priced good tires. super swampers or pretty much any mud terrain is a waste of money imo. you'll notice that the people who run super swampers or mud terrain tires do it mainly just for looks and i think thats just gay. this is just my opinion and maybe it's only like this where i live.

Ya I've got to agree w/ you Wes. It always interested me to see how many guys trucks are running Swampers, etc. and yet there are no scratches or dings anywhere on their trucks! I used to have a 90 Z71 w/ a 9" lift running 35's and trust me it got used weekly in the mud (I've got the pics to prove it). I think it stayed dirty more than clean.
I agree that the times I've been stuck it wouldn't have mattered what kind of tires I had on the truck. I'm sure there are no clean jacked up trucks with no scratches around Raggieland!

sh*t you know it. it's rediculous. if I had the money and time i would open up an off-road shop here. you would make a killing and would never have to worry about fixing anything you sold cause it never gets used.

Im on my 2nd set of Goodyear MTR's. These tires are sweet, good traction in the mud (only time I've been stuck was when I was drunk and thought I could crawl through a stock pond) They ride smooth, quieter than a BFG MT and still have the 3 ply sidewall. I've driven them over a million catus in South Texas, not one flat. But they do come with a price, my 305's held out to about $189 per-

i got sport kings, they aren't a well know brand, but they are from the same mold as bf ats, mud kings are the same mold as bf mud terrain. I got 32by11.5 for 110 a piece i think. pic a little ways a way, but i haven't had a problem with them.

it is only a 4, it will pull it around flat land good (LOL) and i can put it in the water with it, but i haven't tried any "real" towing yet. My guess is not good.
