When we come home really drunk my friends and I break out the axes and write funny story songs about our night. Unless we write down the chords and lyrics the song dies that night. We managed to write the Gold Bond Song and Pirate Song and Some song about Married Women.

I play sax and piano. I'd like to learn guitar, but it'd be more for playing acoustic/spanish kind of songs, not punk rock and stuff. I don't really have the time to be in a band or learn guitar though.

What the, if your friend got a Gibson Les Paul as his first axe then he's spoiled.

I have 2 custom made basses, a 5-string fretless Cort, a 6-string Ibanez, & a 5-string acoustic Rob Allen. Amp-wise, I have a small Fender Bassman 100 watt combo & a Yorkville 4x10 with a 400 watt head.

My Wife and I are in a band together and we both board. I play guitar and she plays drums. We are taking a break right now because we are expecting a child.

Quiggly, I guess if he worked for it then he deserves it. I guess more than anything I think it's too much guitar for somebody who's learning, most people don't drop serious coin like that on their 1st instrument.

Sean, the fretless definitely takes some getting used to but it adds tones that you could never achieve with a fretted bass. Sliding harmonics alone made me want one.

Most definitely. On a fretted bass you tend to press right in the middle of the fret 'cuz it's just easier that way. On the fretless you gotta press right where the fret bar would be, otherwise you'll be outta tune. Getting that into your head can be challenging. I definitely favor fretted over fretless, but like I said, sometimes the fretless can add so much to a song.

jester: ya he knows how to play alright and he likes it so he's not really a beginner. s he's not taking a huge risk in buying it.

Drummer/singer/songwriter. Play a little guitar and bass. Have an old 10 pc. Camco set, all Zildjian cymbols, a Sigma elec/accoustic and an Ibanez Roadstar II for guitars, and an old (mid '70's) Ibanez Roadstar bass. I don't have a functioning amp right now, other than a killer Peavey PA system with both Peavey and Nady loud speakers.
Been with a few rock bands. Mostly classic and alternative. The last band I was in covered everything from Paul Simon to White Zombie with a few originals. I left them last fall because it was taking too much time from my boarding. Currently not playing with anyone, but am in the process of converting the garage into a studio.
