I want to get the new Hyperlite vest, I believe its a outlaw type its the hard rubber like style? My question is can you ride with a outlaw style as long as you have enough coast approved vests in the boat? I tried on the Jet/Pilot but its real thick and constricks your side arm movement, I know its a great vest but its just like my Connelly its just to thick! What do you ride with? Help me..Jet _________________ Andrew"Jet"Mitchell

I used to ride outlaw until my head hit my knee - knocked a tooth out and started to sink. I now ride the O'neill Throttle and love it. It's a tad thicker. Actually it's amazing how much better it keeps me afloat than the outlaw, without giving up being comfortable.

i ride with uscg liquid force vest. i love it, ive taken some bad spills with it....i blacked out for about 30 secs when i hit my head with the tip of my board. i dont know how the thick that hyperlite is, but look around first, cause i still have alot of available movement. _________________ sing goddess, of the anger of achilles, son of peleus |

The new LF Hinge is USCGA and is very flexible. I have a jet pilot that I love. I have never had a problem with restricing my movement, I'm not good enough for it to matter anyway. I also think that is a mental thing as well, I have some good friends that ride in USCGA vests all day and can do crow mobes, whirlys, 540's, 720's, etc. none of them complain about the movement issue. I guess if I were trying a pete 5, than maybe that extra little bit might help me..... but I'd rather be able to float easily in the water after being knocked out than have those 2 cm. _________________ "What do you mean you're done for the night...Insomnia doesn't even open until 4. | I've ridden the outlaw for years and love it. It keeps me afloat just fine and still allows plenty of movement. I've even taken some nasty falls learning a few tricks and the outlaw kept me afloat just fine till I got my normal senses back. |

| i really like riding in like an oneil boost vest. whenever i'm working on a new trick i usually put on the USCG vest just cause it floats better after a hard fall. |

| I ride with an O'neill Boost too - I love it! It keeps me afloat just fine, and I'm 6'2" / 185. Sometimes if you eat it hard though, it'll flip you over face down. I guess thats not the safest position to wind up in if you're unconcious, but we don't ride becuase it's safe right? |

| i dont think any vest will turn your unconciuous body face up if you have a board on. i wear a non-cga vest and like it. it doesn't bring back to the surface as quickly or float me as high in the water as a cga vest but it does float. |

I just ordered the neven swatt uscga, it's the most comfy cga I have tried on, it fits great and is not that much thicker or heavier than my jet pilot non approved. I can't wait to get it
for those that think non-cga floats you fine; try this next time your in the water, let out all the air in your lungs and see how fast you sink, thats what changed my mind _________________ http://www.integrity-wake.com

| I ride with the oneil boost vest as well and i have to say that its really comfortable but when im "floating" the water sits just over the top of my nose. thats comforting... On my lake, its illegal to ride behind the boat without a coast guard approved vest so you might want to check that out. Otherwise you can just be a thug (or stupid) like me and ride a non-approved one. |

Jet- it depends on the state. I'm not sure about Texas but in California a USCGA jacket is required. This law is only a year or so old in CA. Kinda sucks because I ride with an O'niel Boost. I really like the Boost vest, it floats me fine and I've taken falls hard enough to bruise my ribs. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

i've tried body glove's uscg vest and it made me float face down. sketchy. i use a liquid force now. its a little bulkier but it floats me well enough for my homies to get back to me before i drown. if your driver isn't doing power turns then its going to take 30 seconds to get back to an injured rider. i don't think the jacket is as important as the lifegaurds in the boat. keep your eyes on your friends. _________________ Thats gonna leave a mark!! |

I've been told in Mississippi that you don't have to wear a vest at all, as long as you have enough in the boat. I'm not sure if thats the really the law though. I don't think it comes up much, I've never seen anyone riding hard without a vest on. _________________ Winter sucks |

otis- even type III(the other lifejackets sold for wakeboarding) CGA lifejackets will float you face down. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

there is a noticable difference in floatation between brands. like i said, be good observers. it is more important than the type of vest you wear. however i am in the process of developing a bubble wrap body protector\floatation device. i'll make a million with this idea! a million people laugh _________________ Thats gonna leave a mark!! |

| In TX the rider can wear a non-cga vest while riding but there has to be enough cga vests in the boat for all passengers and rider. Also the rider has to be wearing some kind of flotation device but it doesnt have to be cga. |
