yes, because the higher you go the more you feel pulled down from the normal pylon, a tower or high-pole eliminates the downward feeling _________________ They know what is what but they dono what is what they just strut. |

yeah I do feel like I'm being pulled down to the water when I try inverts. all that gets me is a face full of lake. Ive never seen a bassboat w/ a tower but I think I can rig a pylon on the back deck, it's got to be better than pullin w/ the transome hooks.
this is what u look like when u catch a rail and crush the jewels! _________________ GO BIG OR GO HOME |

Hey wake&bake,
I just built a pylon for under $100 made from galvanized parts bought at Home Depot. They have the nico-press tool there in the store allowing you to make the cable terminations you need. You can also use all nylon webbing - there's a guy on e-bay with plans for that.
e-mail me if you want more direction

wesgardner,
Hey Wes, I'm Interested in your homemade pylon. Any info your willing to share about the design would be great. My main concern is bracing w/ a bow strap or kickers enough to not put stress cracks in the fibergalss. I'm planning on mounting the pylon to the wood reaar deck, plus that would be a great project to keep me busy while it's to cold to get in the water. have you tried the new pylon and if so what the you think about the extra height. _________________ GO BIG OR GO HOME |

Hey wake&bake,
E-mail me and I'll fill you in on the particulars - I used to build boats and work in boatyards so I'm VERY familiar with all the parts and pieces that can be used....maybe e-mail me a pic of your boat so we can talk "intelligently" about where/what to mount. No, I haven't tried it yet...other than giving it a few good hard pulls from the side to see how much give (none) there was in the cable. I gotta go down to florida this weekend so I'll have to wait (unfortunately no time for a stop at the cable park on this trip)
My e-mail is wesgardner@comcast.net

Hey wes, I hate to jump in on this topic, but I'm in the same situation, except I have a center console. If I email you some pics of my boat, would you mind giving me some hints and pointers?
Thanks. |

Remember that the rope seeks level. If your being pulled down from the back of the boat, rope seeks level. If your being pulled from eight feet above the water, rope seeks level. _________________ "Carpe Diem" |
