no, they are not gay at all. I'd rather wear one and look "funny" than not wear one and hit my head on a slider and cause serious damage. I would only wear one for sliders and kickers though. I don't see the point when you are just wake jumping.

At TSR you have to wear one to go on any sliders or kickers. I think it's a great idea as well. I would not go on a slider or kicker w/o a helmet. I do not ride regular with one, but can understand people that do. It's a safe practice, especially for going on obsticles.

For normal riding, I don't wear a helmut. But when I ride the sliders, I have always wore one. Rather be safe then sorry.

I don't wear them for normal riding either, but sliders/kickers make it a necessity. Remember kids, CM always says: You look stupider in a coffin than you do in a helmet.

I've wondered if wearing a helmet takes away that "instant headache" feeling when you fall?

Yes, helmets are gay. Even the cool trendy ones that look like backwards hats. Helmets look stupid enough on a skater, but when you have a wakeboarder wearing a helmet, you enter a whole new realm of gayness. If you decide that you have to wear a helmet to hit a rail or something, you probably shouldn't be hitting it in the first place. There are exceptions, but not too many.

Some of them look gay, but the capix ones look sick. The white one is rad...i would def. use one to hit sliders, but not just for wake.

Jb I hope your correct and have the best luck and skill in the world. But for the non-super hero people of the wakeboarding world I believe its a good investment like a LIFE JACKET !
If looks are everything in wakeboarding I guess thats why we all use the word POSER. Idea Question

Well If you ever hit sliders and kickers and cracked youre head open on the slidere ude wear a helmet trust me, and kickers and sliders are a new thing in wakeboarding, why take em out its somthing to do apart from hitting double ups and straight wakes(not saying thats gay) but its somthing different

WHOS WITH ME?

thats some funny sh!1. seriously helmets are only needed when learning how to ride a rail and in comps. Our society has become to addicted to safety, pretty soon everything will have a 6 inch foam layer around it so we can't hurt ourselves Laughing

I like My new Protec acewake... It's a lot more comfy that I woul have guess... and built strong also... mine is all yellow Park's way... sometimes I wear it for wake riding even though I know it doesn't do much... secures a little I guess... but the best thing to keep away from cuncusions are mouth pieces... I think I'll get one at the begining of the season...

Personally I have always thought the batters helmets were trying a little hard to look "cool". Having to wear a helmet in the first place looks kooky on water to start off with then you purposely make it stand out even more by adding a fake bill the water will take and rip off any way when you fall. I still believe a helmet does more harm if your just riding the wake especially if you understand the mechanics of a concussion. Don't get me wrong, if you feel the need to wear a helmet, then by all means wear one especially on a rail or funbox, it's smart. Yes I do wear a helmet if I know we are going out to hit an object, but it get's forgotten from time to time and will more than likely hit it anyway knowing that there is a higher risk. If someone chooses to take that higher risk that is their personal freedom and people should't get all high and mighty on them if that's not how you choose to do it. I feel the same way about vests. Bring on the flame session.

Will the helmet do damage to you, but won't it also help if your going for a 360 or something and you slam your head?

a few years ago wearing a life vest was "gay" and then they became cool again really quick.
Just wait till a pro kills him/herself because they weren't wearing a helmit. and then helmits will become cool. I know its a bad thing to say but its probably whats going to happen.
