im going to make a slider in the near future and i was wondering if a flat plexi-glass surface would work? it might be easier to make and more durable then PVC pipe

plexi glass? no, plastic decking yes, plexi glass is clear acrylic plastic, use that and enjoy sliding what ever is beneath it..
