Can you wakeboard in a river behind a sea-doo?

Is it even legal is what i am wondering cuz i live on a river

I live on the San Gabriel it is in Georgetown. But if you could ,,it would be awsome just think about all the sliders to hit

It helps the wake to put a fat dude as a spotter behind the driver. Also, you will want to play with the rope length. We found shorter to be better.

Riverfreak- How big is the river you do it own and how deep is it? Mines like 30 yards wide and 5-7ft deep. I am goign to try to make a slider out of my john boat.lol. Any suggestions hit me up.

In Mississippi you have to have a mirror, a driver and a spotter, so the sea doo must be a three seater. Othat than that its legal

In Canada, you need a driver, a spotter and room for however many ppl are being towed, so you need at least a 3 person seadoo

Since Riverfreak isnt answering does any1 no for sure that it is legal in texas to ride behind a sea-doo in a RIVER not a lake

I think the usual issue is whether or not you are required to have a spotter. In Texas, the answer is no. You just need a mirror. As far as the river vs. lake thing goes, are powered watercraft allowed at all? If so, I am 99% sure that it would be legal. They would have to have passed a specific local no towing law for it to be illegal.

Even if there is such a law (which there probably is not) you would probably get off with a warning when busted the first time. That's assuming there aren't signs posted or anything.

Thanks Salmon Taco,, I am going to try that it will be awsome if i get some sliders set up on my river. It will be like my own private slider ranch.

You may want to check about your no-wake rules. In Michigan, at least in the Detroit River, you're supposed to be 500 feet from shore. Guess it all depends on enforcement.

legal in ca, az and most other states... if u got a 3 seater.... 1 driver...1 flagger... and oviously 1 rider...go for it.. you are about to have the most boring time of your life.....unless like i did, go 63mph....that was pretty fun....or scarry....whichever.If you think about it....if i would have cought an edge...i pretty much would have died....ok maybey not died...but i would have been fubar.

so if like i lived on a river that was like 7 ft deep and like 25 yrds wide would it be legal in tx?

Texas Parks and Wildlife does not give any specific distance that you must operate from shore. Neither does the USCG "rules of the road" for inland waterways which TPWD refrerences.

So any rules you'd break would be subjective like "creating a hazardous wake" etc.

BTW, the LCRA makes a no-wake zone of 50ft. from shore on the Highland Lakes.

I think you're fine on your river. Of course, your local laws could always place more restrictions but they probably don't.
