Does anyone have any info. on the new 2004 vests. Mostly looking at Oneill and Jet Pilot non-coast guard approved. I am thinking about getting a 2003 vest when the deals start showing up, but I'm thinking maybe I should wait for the 2004 stuff. Was there any new vests at the expo in FL? Thanks for any info.

The new O'neill Vests are pretty sick. The Vapor and the Outlaw both looked really good. They got rid of the Throttle and came out with new USCG Approved vest which actually looked pretty decent also. I didn't got to check out the Jet Pilot stuff though.

Did they change the vapor or the outlaw at all for 2004? Because I was actually looking to get the outlaw. If they didn't change them any, then I may just get the 2003. Thanks man.

Jet Pilot had Killer stuff. The new A-10 is a better version of the stance molded with removeable rib protectors, the Baller is the stance non approved in 3 color schemes , Orlando, L.A. and Charlotte. They have a new approved side entry that is contoured to flex more super comfy, will definatley be the vest i wear next year.

Ya, I saw all of Jetpilot's new vests at Expo. They're blowing everyone away from what I saw. I don't know of another company, O'neill included, that has more options. Jetpilot had vests starting from $29 (nylon though) and going in increments of $10 all the way up to $139 for that new "Cell Block" side entry CGA vest - there's ads in both mags on it right now. "Wakedork" is right though, that new A-10 Attack vest is absolutely insane. That's the one I'm going to ride in for sure, it actually has a neoprene stretch panel going across the back which I thought was super cool. Oh, and the removeable rib pads were sick too...

So yes, to answer the question: Jetpilot had about 4 all new vests coming out for 2004, which is unreal. Oh, and there was a rumor at the show that Jetpilot also is working on a Shaun Murray signature vest that will be out by next Summer... we'll see about that one though.

Late,
-B

You're designing a new vest? What? For Jetpilot? Good luck homie, the last guy Jetpilot listened to when designing a vest was Shane Bonifay & Shaun Murray.... Wink

But hey, if your idea is valid, I'd send it to them so they can see it...

wakedork, would you be able to send me a pic of the A-10 and Baller vests? They sound interesting, especially the A-10 as I wasn't keen on the old molded vest because of their lack of rib protection.

Thanks man.

wakedork,

Please send me the pics also. I don't think it matters if you show them or not. I was just at a board shop today and the manager was going to show me the catalog of the new stuff from surf expo, but she had left it at her house. She made it sound like jet pilots stuff was really, really nice this year. She also mentioned that they were getting cheaper too, which is always a plus. Anyways, my email is jwaterson14@hotmail.com. Thanks a lot!

Oh yeah, one other thing. There is a picture of the baller vest in the new Alliance magazine. It's in the back where they do the reviews. It looks just like the older side entry stance vests, except it's like a jersey and the straps for the buckle is hidden in the back under the vest.

Hey, those pics aren't showing up because they're more than likely not really ".jpg" files. In order for a jpeg file to show up on here it has to be saved as an "RGB" image. If you have the product disk as you say, from Jetpilot, they're for sure "CMYK" files and not even .jpegs because Jetpilot gives out their disks to dealers directly from their catalog. A print catalog product photo can't post directly to the web - it has to be converted to RGB and saved as a .jpg....

If that's too technical, I apologize... just trying to help. Ride on brotha....

Problem solved, thanks BrianJ. I didn't think about that. I'm so used to getting files from people and having to convert them from RGB to CMYK that I didn't think about going the other way> i guess my brain was shut off.

I'm not sure if I like those vests... the Baller looks cool, but I wasn't a fan of the old Stance... The A-10 just looks too complicated - too many small blocks. I prefer the look of the 2003 Stance Molded, although the A-10 looks like it might fit a bit better..

the more smaller blocks the better the flex and range of movement

This is very true - BUT think about it, how much does your vest really need to flex? You can't tell me that a Molded Stance is going to hinder your mobility so much that you won't be able to any certain trick. I think people just get carried away with new products and they get hyped up too much. I'm all for new stuff, but when you go out and buy a new vest because it's got "smaller blocks for added mobility" when your current vest is just fine, I think that's going a little bit over-board...
