I think it a waste of money to have that much hp's, and who cares if you can go x amount in a wakebaord boat. but if you got the money to waste why not, id waste in on something else. like a trip to vegas and some bunnies from the bunny ranch. J/K _________________

In my opinion it's a waste of money. It will basically cost you another $11,000 to go from the Excaliber to the Python. Not only the initial cost of the engine, but you know it's gonna drinck fuel and the engine is too loud. You cannot put mufflers on the engine because there isn't enough room for them.
You can't install a closed cooling system either because of space. The Excaliber is proven in that it can handle the weight, so why would you want to go though all thses disadvantages and cost? Unless your made of money and like to show it get another engine. |

you pretty much prove that by having a new air 210 anyways.
if i had the money to drop on a team edition i would go ahead and get it. i rode behind a SAN TE with about 3,000# of ballast and it took a while to plane out, which is to be expected. If money was not a problem i would get the 502 and run 3,000# of ballast all day. |

not to mention the odd looking hump in the sun deck that they have to put in just to fit that monster of an engine in to it. _________________ wakeboards

some of my friends had the big engine in a 2002. it was insane, definitely worth the money if you got it. the wake was already a lot bigger than a SAN without the big engine because it weighed so much. put some sacks and as many people as you want and you still wont have a problem planing, biggest wake ever _________________ Glass and Powder Boardshop

| Just being able to tell people that your boat has a 502 would kick butt! I have the 310 horse in my SAN and about 2100lbs. and it runs perfect. I couldn't imagine more being necessary, nice but not necessary. |

I couldn't imagine the gas bill for a season of riding, with the 502, sacks, and friends...anyone have any guesses? _________________ Winter sucks |

| Thanks for all the input. I wonder if because the 502 has so much hp that when running 2500+lbs the engine doesnt work as hard as say the excalibur making fuel consumption similar. I would figure rpms would be lower with the xtra hp. Not that it matters. Just a thought! |

It totally depends on how much weight you are running. If it is hard for your boat to plan out then I would think that the 502 might actually help fuel consumption. I know it sounds crazy, but.... It's true. Another positive is that obviously it will extend the life of your engine. I assumed that the 502's are 450 hp which I think is about right. They are not pushing that motor at all. For instance the Excalibur motor is 365 hp (I think?), and the gt-40 motor is 310 hp. To put it in perspective the horsepower per cubic inch on all three of these motors is:
gt-40 = .88 hp/c.i.
502 = .89 hp/c.i.
excalibur = 1.04 hp/c.i.
Of course you do have to take into account engine construction, and several other factors, but from the outside looking in I would say that the 502 would last much longer. _________________ I'm steadily progressin' --- Swollen Members |
