Hyperlite didn't renew his contract. He didn't have a board sponsor for a while, until he hooked up with GB.

The are still with hyperlite, but they moved down to south florida, I think the Frt. Lauderdale area. The came to Texas back in november and I helped my buddy teach them to kiteboard for a few days. They tore it up.

Think of the newest rider for Hyperlite. That may be why Ricky's contract wasm't renewed.

I would actually like to see a Gator Board in person for once. You never see those things out here on the west coast. Hope they get a little bigger, cause they have some big names to pay for now......

Yea Hyperlite dropped Tara, Ricky and Nick and Julz... Most likely it was because they're bringing in new, young riders who will get them more exposure and promote their products better (Webb and Ruck).

I too would like to see a GB board... the new shapes look pretty damn good and they're supposed to weigh like 5.5 lbs...

What a loss for HL?

Murray, Harf, Byerly, Parks, Ruck, Grubb, Sharpe, JD.

I'm sorry...a loss for HL? I think Ruck's addition made their team stronger.

yeah they have a good team, but it's to bad that when you buy a HL piece of equipment, you pay more for Parks' salary than for what you get... great rider that I respect a lot... but way too many on the same team... good for them if they are strong finacialy though...

Uh, what about buying a CWB Prodigy? You'd be paying for Stru's salary. How 'bout if you bought a Byerly? Guess who's salary you'd be paying. What about supporting Necrasson, when you buy a Liquid Force?

Fact of the matter is, anytime you buy ANYTHING, you're helping to pay for somebody's salary. As for paying for a rider's salary, who cares? If you really like the board, buy it and ride it! If you absolutely cannot accept the fact the it shows that you supported the person who's signature board it is, spray paint it, so nobody knows what board you're riding!

I know that with each brand I go I help a rider get sponsored... and I not against it at all... all I wanted to say is that... they could put more effort in improving the merchandise quality than running a team this big wich such big names... like last years poor quality bindings witch kept on tearing... maybe it's just because everyone likes HL that much that makes me like them a little less... or the fact that I like companies that stick with their core riders than other who kept on switching so often... anyway... I have a lot of respect for the riders who ride for that team and also for waht the company have brought to the sport... but I prefer going with good quality and shapes that I like than for who rides what...

its definately all about the hipe and promotion for big companies like hyperlite and even small companies, so obviously when people get start to get a little bored with the same guys, they gotta bring in some new faces. Im not saying ricky g and the heaney brothers and tara and whoever else where getting boring, but hyperlite just wanted to stir things up, and give the public some new faces to talk about, you know?

Not saying that Ricky G wasnt a good rider, but didnt he only have a Signature fin? Thats not much cash coming from him or his name to hyperlite.

ya good point, i thinkyour right, being with the company for how many years and only a fin, its not like he gets much media coverage either, he needs to step up his game if hes gonna compete with like parks and murray and ruck and everyone

actually sharpe and him co-designed the drifter. that was his board of choice, that is why it had his fins on it. He's a good guy, I'm glad that he is still with Malibu and that he now has a board sponsor.

Uh, Ricky G.'s a bad ass rider! He just wasn't whored around as much as Murray, Parks, Byerly and Harf were.

Take a look at Liquid Force. Necrasson is a sick ass rider. But they don't whore him around as much anymore. Now it's Watson, Shane and Kyle.

The TFD is chad's board, he designed it. It's just not called the Sharpe, just like the premeir is not called the Harf, subjekt is not the shane, trip and balance are not the necrasson, etc. Hopefully now that Ricky has this sports management company he will start to get some more promotions and come into the lime light a little more. Same with Randy, both are great riders that just do not follow the normal contest after contest routine and still manage to be great riders.

Wow, someone has a wacky definition of "whoring around." I don't consider good film footage, consistent placement in contests, positive promoting of the sport, and well deserved ads "whoring around." I do, however, consider it to be whoring around when you hire an agent to put out corny press releases about how you are desirable in cross over markets because of your sex appeal.

Ricky may be a good rider but I don't think he tried as hard to get himself out there. For instance, with randy harris at least he tried to compete at contests. He may not have done as well but he earned the respect from a number of people. Add that to the fact that he has had 2-3 interviews in major mags in the past year and a half, had a video part that people couldn't stop talking about, had a great pro model that people loved, and the fact that he shared the rider of the year honor with parks bonifay. Quite frankly, randy and ricky can't be compared.

all in all, I think it's funny that ricky needs an agent to get some attention when randy, shaun, parks and a load of others can manage to do it on their own.

ricky who? either crap or get off the pot. he has had plenty of time to step up his riding and more importantly bring attention to HL through promotion. why keep him when i bet most people here wouldn't recognize him if he was standing right in front of them. my 2 cents
