Hey All, we went out on Travis this past weekend. I had a shorty on and was fine. There were 3 other boats out there as well. A ski nautique with a backwards, not sure, but looked like a tower from a moomba. There was also another tige out there. There was a lot of wind and we ended up just hanging out in Devils. There was also a supra and a malibu there as well. Game wardens were out in full force to. They were checking the type IV and all vests, as well as drinking ages and fire extin. Not a bad weekend all in all. Hopefully it doesn't get into the 50's like they say and we wil be back out this weekend as well. How all do you ride with on Lake Austin Mandy?

I have a few friends that ride on lake Austin: Billy North, Brandon Wagner, Cody levay, and they also ride with Hank cater, eric wheatley, billy G, and a few others. Next time I'm out on lake Austin I will look for your boat. I mainly stick to travis though, sometimes the perd. I'm usually in a blue and white tige or red, blue and white tige.

I can't wait either, I have a bunch of 2003 boards that I need to try and my boat needs some work done. But once that lake is back up I can't wait to toss the rope out and ride for a bit. Hey Mandy, nice pic. How long have you been riding?

Nice, looks like a little tail heavy on the approach for the first but the second one looks killer. I haven't ridden in sooooooo long, I can't wait to get back on the water.

I wanted to get billy g to give me some lessons last year, but never got around to it. I figure I'd do a few this year.
I used to ski on lake georgetown all the time back when i had my ski supreme. I just moved back to Georgetown so I'll probably be going out there some this year.

I went out there once. It was cool but the lake seems kind of small. Seems like it could get crowded quick.

it does. there are only about 3 or so places to get good runs in so on the weekends people are kinda lined up. On weekdays it's really nice. you'll share the lake with about 3 or so boats (mostly fishing boats). At least that's how it was when I was in high school. I'm going to try and go out on Monday. That is if my brother will let me borrow his boat.

I have a friend, J-Rod, that goes out on Georgetown a lot. He has a 22i type R. If you see him out there give him a holler. He's a real nice guy and woudl give you a pull. Anyone been out to decker lately? I know that it's heated, so I figure it has to warmer than travis. I was just wondering how much warmer though.

B-rad and Mandy, if you know Billy North and Hank Carter you must know Jack D. He's a good friend.
Anyway, just had to brag, were riding in boardshorts here in florida!
peace

I am from San Antonio but was out on Travis this past Saturday. I have the Ski Nautique with the backwards tower. I actually had it custom built that way at ProLine in San Antonio.

I did not really dig the riding conditions. Is the lake usually smoother up by the Perdenales? I normall ride at Medina Lake in the summer, and Canyon Lake in the winter.

I am attaching a pic of my "backward" tower.

I would be happy just to board, forget the shorts!! Laughing
The weather has been CRAPPY.....

What is the benefit of having a tower on backwards?

Benefits to backward tower: All one piece....the entire tower folds down into the cabin so there is no break point. Much easier access to board...I can easily get to the board racks from the sun pad and don't have to drag boards through the sitting area to put them up. Also, did not have to customize my bimini to install tower. Plus, the tower is mounted around the engine bay, which has more weight and stability when towing....less likely for a rider to pull on the front of the boat as with a front mounted tower.

Drawback: When picking up a rider, the rope occasionally gets hung up on the board rack or drops between the top two bars.

normally the best plalces to ride on travis are over by jonestown, otherwise known as 420 cove. Always smooth water, and Greg has a slider and kicker over there. Some other good palces are white trash cove and the grape. Over in Cypress (where I saw you) it's only good latter in the day when everyone leaves. It's a high traffic area, therefore the water sucks. The perd is ok, I prefer white trash and the grape my self. 420 is good but more than 2 boats and the lake patrol comes a calling.
