My Dad had his Gall Bladder removed. The procedure itself wasn't that bad. He was sore for a few days but the old man doesn't stay down very long. I think he was moving around pretty good after a few days. He didn't stay down a full 6-8 weeks. It's just 3 small incisions. Your digestion might be messed up at first but after a while things get better.

within a year, 6 women that work in my office all had to have their gallbladders removed. All different ages, races, etc.

I seem to be the only one that finds that weird.

Anyway, they were all back at work after a couple days, so you better suck it up.

I have never heard of that man, that sux. So this is a common thing, having your galbladder removed?? Why does this happen and how could it just explode?? I'm a bad enough hypochondriac, and now this just makes it worse. Sorry to hear though man, it'll go by quick enough, Just play lotsa XBOX or playstation and get a ton of wake vids and watch each three times a day, doctors orders.

well i just got back form the surgines office and i am going to have the surgery on monday. It is a pretty common thing. I didn't think young people got it but the doctor said he remeved three from teens just last week. I got good news he said i will be able to go on my snowboard trip thats what i was hating most about having it done. I wish SMPW was out already o wait they changed it to"Wakeboarding Unleashed" that sounds really stupid.

George~ Are you having your Gallbladder removed with a Laparoscope or Open?
Lap Choley- recovery 2-4 weeks. Watch out for bloating after the surgery and stay on a low fat diet. Take it easy with your diet the 1st couple of days. Just snack or eat small meals throughout the day until you feel comfortable eating regular food. Really important for you to get up and walk around.

Open Choley~ This is much more painful and will usually take 4-6 wk for recovery. Again follow the above instructions for recovery .
Recovery is patient specific and you may or may not have any other problems assciated with this surgery.

Gallbladder disease use to be a disease more commonly found in women. But now due to the increase of fatty foods we're seeing it much more in younger people as well as men.
I've assisted in well over 700 of these cases in the past 6 yrs and also help publish a paper on this subject.
Just remember you're having surgery and your body will recover at its' own rate and time.

you'll be back in no time ..... think positive. Just remember things aren't gonna happen when you want them to. Your body will heal at it's own pace.
You'll have some soreness after 4-6 weeks but that's just like getting over a sprain. Wink

yeh man good luck with your recovery, for some reason doctors always seem to over judge the time i need to heal. with my finger (you might have the pics) they said no wakeboarding for about 3 months. but after a month i could have seriously done it no probs. dad didn't wanna tow me cos of how much he'd spent on it tho. so yeh good luck with your recovery

Sorry to hear this, I just had my best friend go in for an emergency appendix removal. He was having pain for 3 months finally couldn't handle it , went to the emergency room and the dr. said it wazs perferated and ready to explode. I am going to see him tonight actually. So if you ever have something "NOT RIGHT" alalways go to the doctors immediately.

We almost lost him, all cuz he still wanted to wakeboard !!
