I hear you.... I was at Boat Town the other day. Brand new X-9, the direct drive, going for $49K new??? WTF $49K for a D-Drive, I know MC is proud of the name and all. But damn that is a lot for a DD. _________________ "What do you mean you're done for the night...Insomnia doesn't even open until 4. Get your $*** together Billy, cause the night ain't over!"

| alot of people get in a little too deep sometimes. they can go for a few months and them sometimes shizzle happens and you cant afford it anymore. sell it for what you owe, which is why you see such high prices from used boats, or let the bank come and take it back and screw your credit over. |

High boat prices - especially used - makes their owners feel happy as they don't see their pride an joy depreciating by the second. Manufacturers like to see hig used prices too as it gives them a srong brand image and makes the new/used price differential such that it's easy to justify te small extra expense for a new boat and have the benefit of the warranty etc.
Boats are ridiculously expensive anyway partly 'cos it's not exactly a high volume market and partly because lots of schmucks will pay what's asked. However, it's also true that you usually get waht you pay for.....
You oughta live in the UK, THEN you'd know how expensive boats can be! _________________ Jeff |

The same can be said for cars too. Some would argue why buy a used BMW or MB for $30-35K when you can buy a new Maxima for $34. Well, some people appreciate the higher quality of workmanship associated with more pricey cars. Others see value in what the dealers bring (typically easier to work with for maintenance, etc.) I agree, if you just want "a car", no point in spending all that money for things you don't want or don't appreciate. Then again, here in San Jose EVERYONE has an imported car so you spend the money to be part of the masses and treated like such, which negates part of the appeal in buying the car in the first place... Anyway, buy low and sell high and you'll never go wrong... _________________ "Remember when I said I'd kill you last...I lied"
