Out on my own....

and its kinda expensive...ive seen all these posts lately about how people want to leave the house and get out on their own so i thought i would post... i just moved out about 6-7 weeks ago...i got a job a few hours away with a roofing company and i moved down here to be close to the work...well...im kinda having fun i guess....im working 6-10 right now and renting a room in a house...when im done here i will be moving into Portland to go to school... its really a whole new world when you have to pay rent and buy your own food and take care of all your own business when you have never had to before

i really dont know if this post made any sense...but if not...dont mind me cause im workin 60 hours a week right now and im not sure if im in my right mind...im gonna go ahead and end this craziness now...have a nice day

Your post makes sense, it's definitley something to be proud of though. I think you learn alot about yourself when you move out of your parents house, whatever you do, don't move back in once you're out. Congrats on living on your own.

You're damn right it's a whole new world. I used to think 'Wow, my parents earn $xx,xxx.xx (not much) per year, thats SO MUCH! What do they do with it all?'

Now I know. Bills bills bills. They never stop.

I left home when I was 17, moved into a campus, but rent was cheap, there were no extra bills and the government paid me to study, so it wasn't so much of a shock. When my GF and I moved in together (me 18 her 17), it was a different story. I worked full time and she had a small allowance while she was at uni. Tough times but we had heaps of fun and I'm glad I didn't live at home forever like some of my friends. They are only now getting used to paying through the nose and not having everything they want.

When you live at home, 100% of youre income is disposable.

If you work 6-10 how do you work 60hours a week? Am I missing something?

Congrats on makin it on your own tyler. Trust me you'll always look back at these times as some of the best. One thing about it even though your out of the house and it does cost more to take care of yourself, you'll probably never have less to pay for than you do right now Exclamation

Seperate your colours from your whites. It's a lot easier if you do your washing up while you're cooking or after you have eaten every day, rather than a huge pile once a week. Warm water and vinegar remove stains from white carpet, but can bleach some colours out also. Put Baking Soda in with your laundry if you don't let it dry properly and they get that musty smell, this will get rid of it.

Some people definately have it easier than they think. I know I complain about dumb stuff like school and God and insurance companies on here, but my dad just died recently and now all of a sudden I notice all this stuff that is done behind the scenes... I always used to wonder why everyone doesn't go to Jamaica and buy good cars and all that, but after helping with the family budget and finding out we make -92 dollars a year came as quite the wakeup call. Now I look back and wonder how in the world I used to have the time to just sit in front of the TV all day.

Tyler, don't listen to Buttacup ( no offense ). It's OK if you have to move back in with your folks for a short period of time.

As long as you're still working, or getting a job and just don't want to be lazy, parents generally don't have much of a proble with that.

Heck, that's what we're for! Support for our families.

I meant to say for a long term situation don't move back in w/your parents. I moved back into my mom's for a few months while in between jobs and it was weird at first but it's not something I recommend doing. Truly enjoy your freedom and your accomplishments.

and yes, what i meant was that i am working 10 hours a day, 6 days a week

however...im not working this saturday, and its labor day weekend, so i am driving home and i will be riding all weekend with my buddies....hell yeah
