I just started the Florida Atlantic University wakeboarding club and im looking for other colleges to compete against. or if you are a student at Florida Atlantic University or Palm Beach Community College and want to join let me know. anyone else in the boynton beach, lake worth area that wants to ride let me know too. If anyone else has started a wakeboarding club at their school or a riding team and can offer any advice please do. especially if u got ideas for a name for the riding team.

I've just heard that teams do not cut and that usually the top 4 people on the team compete...not sure if that is the same for all schools.

oh i dunno. im gonna give anyone a chance to compete who thinks that they can cut it. but if someone cant even pull a 360 and they want to com epete against some other school on an advanced level then im not gonna let em spend my budget money on that. but its not even really just about competition i just wanna bring the wakeboarders of my school together. its more fun to ridew with alot of cool people. im just worried of some egotistical jerks joining the club and just dissin people who are trying to learn.

We have a wakeboard club here at FSU. It is pretty cool. We have around 30 people. We went to the tournament last november in Gainsville. It was cool.

I just started a wakeboarding club as well..... .Kettering University (Michigan)..... We have about 30 members. I was just wondering what your schools give you money wise for the club???? Also, have you guys attempted to get sponsorship at any level for your clubs?? I am wondering what the possibilities are???? Let me know......

we asked for 1800 all together. a grand for gas money and the rest goes to handle, rope bindings and helmet and just like small other things. just make sure hat you show that that safety is the number one thing. bring them pictures from a catalog and show them the prices. they usually dont give new clubs much cash at all. sponsorships u can go to like local wakeshops or skateshops.

We are going to get around $1000 for boat gas, and maintenance for the spring term. Then for boards, dry suits....etc... we have to battle it out with some guy who is in charge of the "capitol fund". I would guess that we will probably end up in the same shape as you guys. I am going to try to set up something with a couple shops around here as far as sponsorship goes. If they are smart they will cooperate, considering the possibility of so many young buyers about to get out of college. What better way to gain exposure???

Afro,

Don't cut people from your team. That attiture is stupid, not only is that not "your" money, but members can also give you more $$ with dues. I have a lot of experience with a collegiate team, and you don't want to start kicking people off your team, it just leaves a poor image on your club.

bro i never sid i was gonna cut anyone off from the team. the money is going straight for gas money and helmet life jacket and bindings for everyone to use who doesnt have their own equipment. im just saying for competition that if someone wants to go compete for the team thatll be cool but if someone has been only riding for like a month i cant really toss in the cash for them to compete. its not even about competeing the first goal is just to meet new people and ride. i dont know where you got that i was cutting people off. its a club bro not a pro team.

Hey Afro, I forgot to tell you. I used to be the captain of my sno ski team/club at college. I know it is not wakeboarding, but i think that i could give you some guidance on organization, etc. With your limited budget, you wanna try and get some free stuff.
