(posted this over at Wakeworld too...sorry for the dup)

I'm curious about what wakeboarder's think about Airboarding and Foilsurfing. If you have not checked it out yet, go to http://www.foilfreaks.com and see Rush Randle (pro surfer/windsurfer/etc) riding his foilboard behind the boat at Canyon Lake. Also, the very first spin (Air Frontside 360) was landed by Bobby Taylor that day, which is also on the video.

Does Airboarding appeal to wakeboarders at all? Does it look interesting to try...too crazy...too lame, etc? Thanks.

Air boarding is bloody sick. I dont own one but a couple of mates of mine invested in one and it is the maddest and most dangerous fcuken thing i have ever ridden. I used to have a bloody ball on it. Pretty wierd to start of with but you get used to it, if you think you get alot of pop on a wakeboard, try these, you literally get launched into the air by just leaning back. Unfortunetly they moved on with there lives and sold it. SadSad

It looks very extreme, and dangerous, (considering that thingy on the bottom of the board cutting your ear off or something) maybe it would do good if I looked more at it. I can imagine like I Am Sam said, how much air you get Shocked

Fellas,

This isn't the sit-down hydrofoil...that's old news -- I said "AIRBOARDING" ... take a look at the video...9 meg download...

http://www.foilfreaks.com/Videos/CLAirboarding/Rush&Bobby-CanyonLakeAirboarding.wmv

This is a standup...like wakeboarding. These things are just starting to become available for people to buy. You know it is the ground floor of a sport when the first ever SPIN was just landed last week!

If you can't view the video, you can check out some pictures here (along with more video clips)...

i'm not a big fan of it. it's kinda like wakesurfing or whatever, fun to do to change things up but just shouldn't be made a sport. and you can't grab it!! well maybe you can, but its like a kneeboarder doing a grab GAY!!

it looks like something for people who can't get air on a wakeboard. The guy couldn't even jump wake to wake.

It looks like they're going 2 miles an hour. That was kinda weird when he dropped the handle for 5 seconds and picked it up again. All in all, I don't like it.

Dude there were guys here in Texas doing it back in 95. This definitely is not new. I saw some footage of Troy Navarro doing it at Lone Star wakeboard camp and it looks the same as it does now...................lame.

However Rush Randle is the man with the other sports he's involved in.

You can't ride switch.
Also, on a side note, that 3 he did, was backside, not frontside. The first 180 had a handle pass.

I watched the video thinking it would be somthing great, but after seeing it I think it's like tubing: a sport that's meant for people who suck too much to wakeboard.
