Keep your knees close to your chest and envision you pulling the boat instead of it pulling you. Push down, stand up, and ride hard. If you are trying with a board that is too short for you, it'll be a lot tougher.

keep you chest up, shoulders back. Let the boat do all the work, dont try and stand up to soon or pull your self up. What might help is have them pull you a little way (boat barley in gear, so the boats moving slowly), till you get the feel of it, then once you feel the pressure of the water starting to push the board up, have them it and you should just pop right up.

You really can't be told how to do it. Everyone has a different style. The way I like to do is it get rid of the slack in the line. Then I tilt my board up ~45 degrees on the right (I'm goofy). Then when the boat starts moving try to quickly "jump on top of the water and your up. That is how I do it... it might not be right for you but it works for me! Very Happy

Most common problems people have are getting pulled over the board and just plowing through the water which eventually causes the handle to get ripped out of your hand or make your knuckles hit the board. If your getting pulled over the board you need to lean back more and if your just plowing through the water you need to lean back less...

Good Luck,
Nick

You have to concentrate on just staying tucked in a ball, roll your shoulders in, keep your weight centered over the board - don't pull back on the rope like skiing. Tell the boat driver to start off slow at first so you can get the feel of the water rushing under the board and beginning to plane out on the water. The most important thing to remember is to let the boat pull YOU up. Don't try to muscle your way up. Again, roll your shoulders over, knees to your chest, and stay in that position until the board planes up on the water. Stand up when you feel comfy doing so.

The problem most guys have is pulling against the rope to get up. If you do that, the rope flys out of your hands because you're working against the forward momentum of the boat's pull.

the best teaching tool i have seen is the "getting up" section of the film Detention. the most important thing is to stay relaxed, keep your knees bent ALL the way, put your chest on your knees and let the boat pull you over the top of the board. i also found that people ive taught will get up easier if they will get on the pwc and watch someone else get up.

You can also try it on the bank before you even go on the lake, just apply all that everybody has told you or suggested trying took me awhile to get up was really differant standing turned away from the boat.

remember to keep more weight on your back foot then front...that was the worst part of learning for me. Keep your knees together and to your chest. make sure part of the board is above the water. I dont really remember the rest because I dont really start like this anymore. My friends and I always just stand on the board and angle our toes upwards. It's fun because the slightest tug from the boat yanks you right out of the water. Anyways best of luck to ya and keep trying!

alot of it can be boat speed. whenever i try to teach some one how to get up we barely give it any throttle, so the person can get a feel for the pressure agaisnt the board. Less is more, i think. You don't need to gun the boat to get some one up. well thats how we do it up here anyways.

I agree totally with sean o rama. You can almost idle someone up. A tiny bit of throttle will do the trick. Just like everyone said stay in a ball... Also get an instrutional video- Detention I has a section on getting up, I don't have higher learning but I would assume it does also. Good Luck!!!

RELAX. Be sure to keep your knees all the way up at your chest. Crouch all way into a ball. LET THE BOAT DO THE WORK. Once the boat pulls you up on top of the water, just stand up. That simple. Don't worry about getting your front foot forward. The fins will do that for you. You could actually ride around the whole lake facing the boat with your butt on the water, so don't rush it.

Do you guys really touch your knees to your chest? I can't even touch my knees to my chest without pulling my leg towards me. If I pull my knees in as far as I can my hands would be even with my board. Most of us start with our elbows touching/near our knees with our arms outstretched. Our hands are probably about 1-1.5 feet away from the board.

Just don't try to pull yourself up, lay back, bend your knees and let the boat do it.
