I pay about $1200 for my car insurance. But I drive a 1994 jeep w/ 185,000 miles on it and i'm 17. So that is not too accurate.

In alberta here it depends on the vehicle...average is like 2500 dollars a year for insurance, but I know a few people that own porsche's and they pay like 6 -7 grand a year.

In saskatchewan you pay based on your vehicle...I had a 1988 ford ranger...and paid about 400 dollars a year to insure it for a year...its all goverment insurance...so thats why its so cheap, im guessing everywhere else is mostly private insurance.

I pay about 1600 a year for a 2001 Silverado full coverage, it will go down a bunch too when I'm 25. I'm real happy with my rate...

Heh! just wait until you have kids in their teens. I pump out about $6K a year. Not including boat or homeowners insurance.

My plan is that my kids won't have new cars, so full coverage won't be required. Plus, if they are responsible enough to have a car they better have a job to pay for it, or at least part of it. So I figure my family will pay out like 5K in auto insurance, hopefully my kids can cover themselves, but probably night with a part time high school job.

That was my plan too. I let my wife talk me out of it though.

I guess I'm just too soft. If it weren't for the kids, I might have been able to retire by 55. Very Happy

guys have raging horomones lol... we're alteast a lil more controlled. well.. thats in my opinion. most guys usually want to always drive really fast and take risks... most chicks are a lil more conservative.

There is a girl in my school that wreaked her car 6 times in less than a year, I believe. She said her parents finally took her car away from her! I have a 98 Integra and I don't know how much insurance is on it because my parents pay for it. They are kinda mad though because our insurance company considers my 4-door Integra a sports car so they have to pay more.

I have never had a wreck, not even a scratch, but my ex-girlfriend, who used to tell me off for speeding, has banged her car up so much that there isn't a single panel left unmarked.

Also, a mates girlfriend ran his car into a fuel pump Razz

Sorry, but girls (not women, I'm talking just learning to drive girls) generally suck at driving. JMO.

You guys can talk all you want about all the people you know that have got into accidents, but you really don't know that many people. Maybe 200, even if you knew 1000 that's nothing compared to the U.S. population. Bottom line is insurance companies keep very good track of statistics, especially ones relating to their business. Insurance rates are higher for males for a reason.

When I was in high school the girls definitely drove more conservatively, though it does seem I knew more girls that got into accidents then guys; however, the accidents usually weren't their fault.

go Gieco, I pay $1046/year for an 01 silverado, and 97 silverado both v8s full cov. on the 01.....they have good claim service as well

Kids should never be in brand new vehicles, I drove my first car off a bridge....I don't get these parents who buy their kids 30k trucks/cars....that is something a kid should have to work for.....I was 24 when I bought my first new vehicle.....I was on top of the world

I could'nt agree more riverfreak, we just bought our first new vehicle, and I'm going on 27. My parents have never had a new vehicle, never had a car payment either.
