Will these guys ever come up with their own shape? Not that using the Cassette shapes was enough, they also now use the byerly/grubb wood skates shape. I went up and talked to these guys and they flat out told me they arent the same shapes. Its so obvious its not even funny. Although they did do one thing to make it look like they have their own shapes. Instead of making a 4 trac out of the Cassette shapes, they used the Byerly/Grubb ones. Who are these guys kidding?

DaWorD,

You sound so ignorant and obviously have no idea about anything that goes on.

When Liquid went out they bought the presses and are now doing OEM for Liquid and possibly Cassette if they dont get someone else to.

I am not sticking up for 484 or supporting their product, I am just telling you what a dumby wumby you are. Laughing

Actually I do know whats goin on, you should actually read my post.

I said they dont have their own shapes, which means they havent contributed a thing to wakeskating. All they are doing is trying to bank off of someone elses ideas, concepts, and hard work.

And about them owning the presses, I didnt think they did. I thought they bought some decks from the manufacturer when Liquid/Cassette were in limbo.

DaWorD,

Sorry for reading it wrong. Technically they are their own shapes now because they own the presses now.

Its just like in the skateboard industry. Look at how many different companies there are and what about 4 manufacturers.

So they copied the 4-trac idea. How many companies copied the first twin tip skateboard idea when Mike Vallely and World Industries came out with it? Enough that it is the prevalent design on the skate market today. Companies are going to copy each other, you have to get over that and let it happen. Although a lot of credit is owed toward Cassette, they do not own wakeskating. I'll admit that I've poked a little fun at 484 for being 484-tracs, but I've let it go, I think the rest of you should do the same.

What about the grip tape designs on top being identical? Surely they could put in the extra effort to pattern the grip tape at least a slightly different way.

I dont care either way, I have a cassette concave 41 and it has held up all season. If it falters, I will see what else is out there.

Bassturd,

Typical Grouch style would be sarcastic. Twisted Evil Everyone is entitled to their opinion. It is just like the skateboard industry. How many OEM manufactures are out there? There are about 5 companies that make everyones decks.

I dont ride a 484 and never will. I like my Liquid Force Tech 42 and will continue to skate that.

Hmmmm and what exactly is a 'real wakeskater'? I'd like to know if you can define that for me cuz I really need to know what YOU think a real wakeskater is cuz i don't want to be a wakefakester - oh yeah and if I qualify as a real wakeskater I want to know when I voted you as 'real wakeskater' spokesman? So please indulge me, enlighten me, sway me with your eloquent words of wisdom.

Barndoor Willis, your questioning proves your a jackwad. i will not sway you, i will not indulge you, i will not enlighten you, i will speak my mind/heart and you can write me back, bitching about this and that.(bring it) the only thing i know is i'm a diehard and i support the non-mainstream approch to keeping this sport (passion) in the right hands. i don't want to see this thing wash out with the BS that has screwed up wakeboarding and if you don't understand why i'm saying that then this is way over your head.Puppy Eyes
a true wakeskater would think/know any one of these things:
1) a rider that respects the the roots of the sport (meaning Bubb Rubb any company that shits on Thomas Horrel)
2) rides any chance they get and dosen't complain about choppy water.
3) supports the people that progresses the sport not the companys that try to exploit it for $
4)wears nautica jeans... Sad
5)comes from a skate background not a wakeboard or ski influence.
6)uses proper terminology when explaining tricks.
7)claims BS on hyperlites Gate claim "nolies big of the double up"
8)has all the analog mags.

[quote="Bassturd"]Barndoor Willis, your questioning proves your a jackwad.

Ok bro - so I am jackward for quesitoning YOUR authority as to who is and who is not a real wakeskater? Dude are you on crack or something? No offence but how can anyone take you and your list seriously? I mean come on what kind of jeans you wear? and being a skater first and not a skier (which I am not, but who cares?)?

Anyways - I just challenge your view of what a 'real' wakeskater is... who is to say who is and who isn't. I hate people who demean others based on thier own prejudices... Like saying someone who skied first and then got into wakeskating wasn't a real wakeskater - that is so lame and uneducated. Oh yeah and then you come back with this retarded answer of "oh I meant you had to be one of the things in my list, or whatever you said...

In my opinion (which I do not pretend to think that many people would or should care too much about - so I don't speak on behalf of all 'real' wakeskaters) a real wakeskater is someone who loves jumping in a boat with nothin but a pair of shoes on a skate and getting pulled around all day. Plain and simple. And then if he or she at the end of the wants to put on a pair of nautica jeans well whooptie-friggin doo!

Anyways, the reason I posted against you was becuase you said that this other company gets "NO RESPECT FROM REAL WAKESKATERS" - which pissed me off becuase you have every right to share your opinion, but absolutley no right say that you speak on behalf of all real wakeskaters..

Then you said on your cool list that a real wakeskater supports co's that promote wakeskating - ok and then someone on the list let slip the info that 484 is now pressing skates for lots of co's. Well to me that sounds like a good thing for wakeskating, especially if what we hear is true that the old manufacturer was shut down and all skates were going to be made in china... but hey man maybe you should add to your list that a real wakeskater rides only boards that are made in china - that would be cool, heh heh! Wink

sorry for such a longass post...

QUIT BEING LITTLE BIT-CHES. WAKESKATE IF YOU WANNA. 484 IS DOING THEIR OWN THING, THEY HAVE MONEY AND THEY SPENT IT WITHIN OUR INDUSTRY AND NOT ANOTHER. THERE-FORE THEY ARE MORE "CORE" THAN YOU WILL EVER BE. YOU SHOULD SUPPORT THEM AND ALL OTHER SMALL WAKESKATE COMPANIES. WITHOUT THESE SMALL COMPANIES...... OUR INDUSTRY WOULD BE...... WELL ...OWNED BY ONE PERSON.
