Jumping/Landing Tips for a Beginner

This is my first real season of wakeboarding, and I am having a blast. I just can't consistently stick my landings, though. When I go big, I usually catch an edge and plant. Seems best when I am real back heavy and land tail first. Does this help? I ride at 19-20MPH on a Parks 138-absolutely love this board. When I edge hard, I can get 6 feet or more out into the flats, but I have yet to stick one of those landings. I have been told to maintain an edge through the jump rather than stand tall, but this makes me way out of whack in the air. Where do you look when you jump? Some lok at the boat and others at the horizon to the side you are going. I tried this and ended up all crazy.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

maintain edge and stand tall...i spot my landing and keep looking at till i land i may be doing it wrong but thats how i do it

To land it helps to look at the shore you are heading to. You dont actually want to look down at the wake because you will then go the way you are looking.

just rember to edge all the way and you'll have it. just remember edge and your good to go

Thanks for the tips. When you edge all the way through, do you keep leaning back on the rope? Do you keep your knees bent or stand tall?

Based on what you described.

Loading the line does not necessarily mean you need to lean away from the boat.
You can load the line while staying balance over your board.
I would suggest a lot of simple W2W jumps taking the trick up by using the entire wake. You are getting all wacky as you describe from jumping of the wake which changes your edge and center of balance at the worst possible time. Stay quite at the top of the wake almost in a strong locked position while still edging up and through the wake with the handle in tight.

I just started jumping a month ago, and I've had several people give me advice.
The one that has saved me the most from faceplanting, ( always fun for people in the boat to watch, but sucks for you) has been to jump at the top of the wake.

I found it was easier to look at the shore if I actually hit the top of the wake.
You may be doing what I am doing and jumping before you hit the very top of the wake. If you jump before you look down at the wake, if you look down your shoulders follow your head, and straight down you go.

I've hit the top of the wake a few times now, and it feels much more comfortable and hitting the top forces your board to already have the front end up, and in a much better position to land. It also keeps your head up and looking across the wake.
Once you've done it you will know.

Hey J Dogg...How do you load the line without leaning away from the boat?
