ive seen wake surfin in magazines and stuff but never in real life until this weekend some dudes were going it and it wooked fun. I have some questions aobut it, is its like wakeboarding at all? How much are those boards, and do you get up the same way as you would on a surfboard? (i've never surfed but i have an idea of how to get up i think) My last guestion is, were would i get one for cheap?

First time I tried, I shortened the rope significantly but the wake size was small so I was quickly back on the wakeboard!

you shorten the rope ALOT, and you only drive about 10-15mph

We get up using 15' section of our jacket rope and than once the boat is up to speed(behind my boat its 12mph) you pull yourself into the curl and toss the rope in the boat.
I will post some pictures later.

I made a video that shows us getting up and then getting into the pocket - where you can surf without needing the rope. It's really easy to get up once you try it a couple of times but learning to find the pocket is a little harder. You also have to figure out how to weight your boat and what speed to go. I've found that as little as 1/2 mph makes a huge difference.

jedama1210 - I go out to San V all the time and have 2 Inland Surfer boards and you're welcome to come out with us. You can use a regular surf board too but they are a little harder to do tricks on.

Yeah, that's what people have told me to do... I've just never tried it. I'm gonna have to learn this summer!

Once you know what you're doing and the wake is good it's easy to toss the rope. But for beginners it's easier to just surf holding the rope until you get the feel for it. Some of my friends have been in too much of a hurry to throw the rope and we just end up having to pick them up every 30 seconds.

| When we were leanring, we added an extra 5 ft, so it was harder to get into the pocket, but when you started to drift out. We'd throw the rope back, and you could continue riding, and get back in. It worked really well, until we had the camera man thorwing the rope, and the rope would end up in the white wash and it was useless...Just like wakeboarding you dont go for an invert first trick...Work your way up. Im not where near as good at Bill J or his riding buddies, but I can stay in the pocket and slaysh around, Im even working on my bs 180s...and ollies...

| BillJ, thats an awesome video. do you guys get up like your actually surfing or do you get up like your riding a wakeskate. i have the landlock and i just let it float in front of me with my feet on it i say go then push it down, its alot faster than starting by laying down.

| I get up like a wakeskate, but my buddy Todd is a really good surfer so he likes to play around and do a surf start. He lays on the board holding the rope and once he's in the pocket he throws the rope then pops up just like a real wave. We tried starting by standing on the board with it under water (like you can do on a wakeskate) and drop-knee style like a body board. Just playing around and having some fun.

I still use a surfboard from time to time, we use the landlock also but the surfboard lets the new people find the pocket you guys are talking about easier....
getting up.
Landlock = wakeskate style.
Surfboard = surfboard style.
In our circle, it's not really wake surfing unless you toss the handle.
