The World Wakeskate Association intentions are to become the international governing body for the sport of wakeskating. The purpose of the WWSA is to help introduce people to the sport of competitive wakeskating, provide consistent and fair standards for competition by sanctioning events, and to help educate the public on ways to have more fun and generally improve individual skills in wakeskating.

The WWSA will be an association with a board of directors elected from our general membership. All members will be encouraged to participate, and to let their feelings and ideas be known to the WWSA board so that this association can better serve its members. Any member will be allowed to participate in board meetings. We are currently taking membership applications for the year 2004. Our big push for applications will be in September at the Surf Expo in Orlando FL. We would like to have all of our sponsors for the 2004 year committed by September so we will have a good showing at the surf expo.

Not affiliated with any other organizations this is a wakeskate only organization. Capix, Wakeskate.com, Aaron Reed and some of his crew are all on board . The WWSA intends to achieve our goals with our members help and the rest of the Wakeskating community. The members, board members, community will help progress the sport of Wakeskating. And your last question how world will it be, Wakeskating is all over the world and we hope every wakeskater will support the sport they love. As soon as the sport is ready we will sanction our own events with a format made by the board and our members. WSO series is what we are working on for 2004 it will be similar to the triple crown but WSO (wakeskate only)

I thought most organizations in this industry get their needed funds from sponsors and corporate backing. Why target the general public for funding via membership fees?

Yes that is true,We have sent out many sponsorship proposals. We arent targeting the general public for funding we are just trying to get members. All of the corporate sponsors wont contribute if you dont have any members. The membership fee is to pay for your membership benefits; ie swag, shirts, personal injury insurance, discounted gear & mags and more to come

I think wakeskating is doing just fine without the WWSA. Governing bodies, board of directors, board meetings........ beware, sounds like the corporate bastards are making their move.

Yeah dont be negative until you see a negative outcome. Being sceptical is ok but dissing the WWSA is hardly justified at this point.

I have a question about the membership benefit of 'personal injury insurance'. Is this for contests only? What are the general terms of the injury insurance?

Thanks for the info.
