| Does anyone have experience with this tower? If so, it working for you? Solid and quiet? When it folds down, does it go flat enough to get your cover over it (without modifying the cover)? I really like the looks of it (with the batracks) and that it folds almost flat. How easy is it to fold down and set back up? It claims no tools needed. |

| Although I don't use the tower personally, we sell many of these towers, and as of yet have had no problems. Skylon makes very solid high end products, and they stand behind their work. They have put great pain in designing adjustable mounts that work with any boat, yet give the rigidity of a custom mount. As far as folding, it folds very flat. Here is a [u]link - click on the image on the left and it will bring up an expanded image, showing the tower folded on a boat. |

From the Wakeside website using the above URL. What does that tell you about the inherent rigidity of the tower? _________________ Jeff |

| MrBlean, The X-Treme tower is very solid with or without the optional BatRacks. Though they do add stiffness to the tower, they don't affect the performance. I was talking specifically about the rigidity of the mounts. |

Having not seen one in the flesh or used one I clearly cannot argue the point from experience. From what you are saying, the mounts are as well anchored to the deck as on any other tower design. If so, that's not an issue. However, what's the advantage of having the feet firmly anchored if the tower flexes? All I have done is quoted the manufacturer's/re-seller's sales blurb and suggested kaulua al draws a logical conclusion therefrom. _________________ Jeff |

From my experience, I have found that the mounts on many adjustable towers are far from adequate. Since the manufacturer is trying to make a mount that works at any angle, often times they do a poor job of designing a truly solid mount. Skylon, putting a lot of R&D directly into the mounts, found a way to eliminate this problem.
As far as flex, every tower flexes, no matter what brand or design. In saying that the tower is very solid, I was assuring Kailua Al that it will be just as solid as other options he may be considering.
The manufacturer's blurb is most likely an exaggeration, as they are trying to sell an additional product. I was speaking directly from my experience and knowledge, not from some manufacturer's blurb. |
