|
|
I just bought a new MiniDV camera in hopes of watching myself and improving my skills, but the cost of this camera makes me think twice about taking it on the boat now. Anyone ever have problems with splash? Anyone use any type of protective housing on their camera?
thanks, |

| I have a sony vx1000, pc 101, and ip5, (I love recording stuff) and I carry one of them on the boat almost every time. Never had any problems with splashing or water getting on the cameras. Generally cameras can take a drop or two anyway, it's just making sure that you don't emerse it to get it onto the ccd or the circuit boards. you also want to be careful when riders just get into the boat from having riden because they tend to shake off a lot of water when they're drying down. last, if you ever do get your camera wet (substantially), take off the battery immediately and dry it down for a day or two before you short circuit it. hope this helps.... |

| i take my camera when i wakeboard doubles, it gives you really good shots, you just have to do it when its really calm, so you dont like, fall. It should be no problem in the boat, just dont drop it. |

there is a devise on overtons.com that is called the ISO Trakker. it hooks to the or the tower and it has a ring that the rope goes thru so it follows the boarder/skier.. it also has dampening rings on it ..that combined with the new camera anti shake function keeps a pretty still video..unless you are in some bone jarring h20.. from there..just put a plastic bag over the camera and rubberband the open end to where the lens attaches and it keeps the splash off..hope this helps.. (the device is about 150$$$..so check WWW.overtons.com
