Gonna try the first invert this Sunday. I'm goin for the simple Backroll.
But I need someone to pack me a bag of confidence!!!
I have watched "Detention"so many times, I've got it memorized. The one thing it does not quite cover is the key to getting the lift of the board off the wake. What initiates the roll?
I know its a combination of speed, correct edge and pushing the board back and up. Right? I just have visions of landing either on my back or my head, and thats the wrong kind of thoughts!
I guess I just need someone to point out the most common mistakes. This will tell me what to look out for.
Thanks! |

thumper, come on man. On this page alone I counted 7 thread that said 'backroll' in the title. That isn't even counting the other 5+ threads that said "first invert" in the title.
Anyways. If you are worried about pain you aren't ready for this trick. I'm no pro, but i just landed my first backroll a few days ago. Newsflash: you are going to fall a few times before landing it. Pain is only temporary and after you've done the trick, pain is well worth it in hindsight.
Plus, it isn't really painful at all when you think about it. It is like getting a spanking or slapped in the face. Not bad.
You will find out how much kick you need to complete the rotaion. My suggestion (its what i did) is to have someone in the boat film it and then watch it over and over again in slow motion until you see what you are doing wrong.
Keep your arms in close and rope close to body, edge up through the wake, don't start the rotation too early, throw your head back and spot your landing.
You'll get it if you really want to. Don't worry about falling or else you'll never even come close to this trick.
Best of luck. _________________ Alaska: Where the men are men and the women are men. |

Thumper i agree with cky just dont worry about the falls cuz they arent bad at all... .remember that falls on spins are way worse than inverts invert fall are usually just a little slap go at with confidence and youll do fine and dont let go of the rope cuz thats what pulls u around
