Is there a Big difference between a suckass board and a nice board?
Like air, spinning, and landing.
Would it be worth it to upgrade to a better board? Pretty much got a begginners board right now. |

It all depends. I'm assuming your board has a continuase (sp) rocker if u say it's a beginner board. If you go to one with a 3 stage rocker you will get a lot more pop, but from what i hear the landings aren't as easy or smooth. As for spinning, I don't think it would make much difference, unless you consider that you can get higher easier and get more hang time to spin. How long have you had your board and how much did u pay for it? _________________

hmmmm
Landings on a 3-stage are actually smoother b/c the board settles easier.
You get a lot more pop from a good strong edge, not from your boards rocker.
As for spinning, shorter board release off the wake quicker and it can be easier to initiate spins. Plus the swing weight is lighter so they are easier to control in the air.
The newer boards have much better profiles than older boards, designs have improved year after year. Newer boards have chanells and molded side fins to help the board track when its on edge, you can generate more edging power.
If you are a beginner/intermediate rider, I would look for a middle of the pack board that will fit your riding, but also one that will allow you to progress. Check out the gear guide on this site and the board guide on www.wakeworld.com for more info about different boards and board characteristics. Come back with anything specific and someone will help. |

From my experience, boards w/ 3-stage rockers have softer landings. The bucking type of pop and the soft landings are reasons enough for me to prefer boards w/ 3-stage rockers. It fits my style, too, as I like to go straight up and land on the transition.
I never suggest getting a beginner board. I always say to go for what is more intermediate or advance, as they are good boards to advance on. Also, why would you get a beginner board if you're only hoping to advance?
Aside from WakeWorld, this site, too, has gear reviews. _________________ my demo reel

Numbfoot, generally, boards w/ 3-stage rockers land softer. That doesn't mean there aren't any boards w/ 3-stage out there that doesn't land hard. I've come across a couple of them, such as Liquid Force Balance and Origin Skull. _________________ my demo reel

jumalian, i should have guessed the guy at the sporting goods store didn't know what he was talking about when i bought my board, he wasn't sure how the fins went on, or which way, or which ones to give me.
That's the last time i listen to that guy. _________________

A good board that will take you from beginning to advanced riding is the Hyperlite Belmont. _________________ "Our common welfare as wakeboarders shall come first, placing principles ahead of personalities......" |

Numbfoot, is there not a local shop you can go to? They have all the information you need and most of them know how and which way fins mount!
Seriously, support your local shop. If you don't have a local shop, check out online shops, such as http://www.glassandpowder.com or http://www.ambush.com.
If the sporting goods store is your only option, don't hesitate to come in here to ask first. There are plenty of people here that are willing to answer your question(s) and help you out. _________________ my demo reel
