could someone give a very detailed explination of how to do a bunnyhop? I feel like I should have learned this years ago, but I never did, and now it bothers me that I can't. Every time I try I end up doing a nose dive and not getting in the air at all. Is the board supposed to be flat? because that's what I've heard and thats what I've been trying. Is it similar to an ollie on a skateboard? also how easy should it be to bunnyhop on a boat without a tower or pylon? when I try it feels like the boat is pulling me down, 'cause, well it is. _________________ ...say goodbye |

eh, its so super easy, its like an olly. all you do is put some pressure on your back foot to generate it, then you lift your front foot slightly before you lift your back foot. it is not at all like jumping when you are on the ground and you bend both legs and hop up. Front leg then back leg. Its really easy, i can probably do it nearly 24 inches but i dont konw, prolly more like 18. it all depends.
it is much easier if you are going 21-22 instead of 17-18 because you are sitting higher in the water and have less resistance. _________________ Alaska: Where the men are men and the women are men. |

| in a nutshell, just kick the back of your board. you can add height by jumping and lifting your knees. its similar to an ollie on a skateboard in the fact that you kick the board with your back foot to get the front end up. |

| if you have ever ollied in any other boardsport its exactly the same. you can just yank your board out- theres suction that keeps it on the water so you have to press down with your back foot then you can slide it forward kind of and lift your knees to get it higher. what you might wanna do is take somethiing like a milkjug thats empty and just tie a brick to it and drop it out in the lake or wherever you go and ollie over that for starters. i go in a salt water (kindof its actually brackish) and there are a lot of crab pots out there and i ollie over the floats for those a lot. |

yes I have the same situation, man those things are annoying, expesially when the driver doesnt see them, and they end up in the wake. One day I wanna just take a knife out there and pull them up and cut 'em off.
I have ollied on a skateboard before, but it just feels so much different, because on the skateboard you have you foot on the very back of the board.
I haven't been able to ride in the past few days, but should get to tomorrow, so I will try all of your tips. Thanks guys. _________________ ...say goodbye |

Yeah when i try to kick the back end of the board down i always do a faceplant . I can do an ollie on a skateboard but like heartofbullets said it does feel a lot different. _________________ www.krookedminds.com

well i tried it, qite a few times. I got in the air, but only a few inches. Perhaps I'm not getting air because my ropes ties to the back of the boat? hence pulling me down. _________________ ...say goodbye |

the harder you push down, the higher you go. it is the reciprocal action of the board being pushed into the water that gives you the lift for an ollie. push down hard with back foiot, pull up front, then back, then land. once you get the hang of it, try it over a bouy or something. that's fun... _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.
