Need quick advice w/ the backroll

I'm going out today and want to do the backroll. I know how to do it I just don't understand one thing. The trick tips says when you hit the wake to have the board not behind you, but not in the exact direction ur going or else you won't make the flip. So it has to be somewhere in between that point. My question is, how do you get it in that posistion?? Do you push away from the boat or what?

yes....throw ur board away from the boat....some people can get away without doing it but if u do it will bring ur landing so ur straight up not to leaned over on edge
