|
|
I'm a beginner wakeboarder but can do some good stuff. I've more than got my prog. edge down and height and distance really isn't a problem with me. I'm getting 4+ feet every time off of our '89 sea ray. The wake isn't that great but I do OK. I just got a pylon so it has increased my hangtime significantly.
I want to start throwing 3's, and I'm sure that it will take time to learn. I'm working on my backroll and am coming along quite well. I've tried it about 9 times and have almost landed it a few times, it will just take a little more practice.
Anyway, I know that its going to take a few face plants while attempting a 3 before I get it down. How many attempts did it take before you finally landed it. I'm just talking about your generic hs fs 360.
I'm willing to eat it a few times in order to land one. _________________ Alaska: Where the men are men and the women are men. |

it'll take as long as it takes.
better be prepared to eat it more than a few times though... _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.

it took me about 6 or 7 tries. but dont worry about falling hard cuz you dont unless you get off axis, you can prvent this by waiting for the pop then spin. _________________ www.spyoptic.com

would it be good practice to first try a wraped 3, or would this just make things more difficult _________________ Theres a fine line between bravery and stupidity-Johnny Knoxville |

dont think it would make it more difficult at all ... though that would spin u backside and the easiest handle pass 3 is frontside ... so u wouldnt be helpin that out ne _________________ "Worrying is like a rocking chair ... gives you something to do but it doesnt get you any where" Van Wilder |

I've learned heelside 180's fine and toeside 180's so I thought I'd try a 3. The first three times were a disaster, and rattled me pretty good. I tried one yesterday and I rotated all the way around but I was off axis a little and my nose came down first. But I was happy to rotate one. The handle pass is hard to comit to because I find that you don't think about it. It's a mental thing. I suggest the usual. Stand tall at the wake, spin pass the handle and pull it a little to bring in the landing. Pulling will complete the rotation. Also, don't look at the water or your landing too much. Look at a spot on the hozizon. This will keep you on axis. If your head is down too long your body will follow. Good luck. _________________ 500 up |

focus on popping off the wake then spinning, make sure you hit the wake with the handle all the way in to your waist, this makes the handle pass possible. pull the handle around your hip and turn ur head to initiate the spin. Just commit to the spin, if you hessitate on any trick you are going to bail. _________________ Ride Cuz You Love IT

i learned mine on a trampoline. i did as many as i could one day to get used to the handle pass and staying on axis. the next day i went out and landed my second one. i didnt take a single hard crash on it the only reason i didnt land the first one is cus the boat the handle out of my hand. so go for it, you will land it in no time. its like any other trick you do once you try it there aint nothin to it _________________ i know less than half of you less than half as i should like,

| The way that i have been practicing 3's is, when ever the boat turns around i just olie off the rollers and spin it. i can get the handle and the rotation but i havent gotten enough height to get the landing. I think thats the best way to practice it because the falls arent to hard and you can practice the handle pass with the boat pulling on you. |

a 360 is not an easy trick, so dont be disappointed when you expect to land it in one session and dont. it took me a few months to actually complete the trick and land it--i do it with a handle pass, no cheating wrapped! just learn the real trick, and then later if you wanna do it wrapped at least throw it slob or something. i would say that it is definately more difficult than a backroll, and i have only been doin backrolls for 3 weeks, whereas my 3's i have been doing for 2 years! just stick with it, and dont give up...you will get it soon enough, it all comes with some time. GOOD LUCK! _________________ I am a 18 year old, who dreams about wakeboarding all day....this seems like a cool website to get some information off of. |

I'm on my 3rd try and no beans yet. By using a video cam I learned I don't have the handle at the small of my back so I waste time searching for it with my hand. Next thing I know I'm on the surface of the water backwards getting ready for mad slap on the water.
I'm back on the tramp now really working on pulling the handle HARD so I can get the handle pass and make the trick happen. Just takes time, but increase your odds of getting it by using a tramp and camera if you can. _________________ 1989 Supra Comp TS6M, 06 GLI for haulin'.

You said to hit the wake with the handle to your hip, do you mean real close, inches? Are your elbows at 90 degrees to the line?
Trying to figure out my prob here.
thanks |

I would say the closer the better to make the handle pass easier. Do you own any of the instructional videos? _________________ Check out https://www.facebook.com/darcizzleoffshore |

that method guy is wrong bout the whole wrapped thing. you can spin frontside or backside depending on how you wrap up. i would still say to do the handle pass tho, just becuz it will help a lot with future tricks to know how to do one. _________________ I am a 18 year old, who dreams about wakeboarding all day....this seems like a cool website to get some information off of. |

I have only tried a 360, 4 times. Last night, I made it all the way around but I didn't get the handle. I ended up face planting really hard and even broke blood vessels in the arm. But I'm going to keep at it!!!! _________________ Go big, or don't go at all |

| I started doing it wrapped last year and got one I think, but it was just luck. I had no idea where I was. This year I've started trying the handle pass and even though I haven't finished one yet, they are a ton more fun than wrapped I think. When wrapped you just spin so fast and really don't have as much control over your spin. You seem to smack alot harder too. |

| It took me probably 15-20 trys to land my first one, but after that it is all about getting consistant with it. I have been doing threes for over a year, and one day I will go out and nail 15 of them in a row (with some 5's in there) without falling once, and then the next day I won't land one. I always make the handle pass, but if I take it too big, and land in the flats it makes the trick ten times harder. Moral of the story: take a really relaxed edge, and take the trick up, and wake to wake. Try to concentrate on just making the handle pass, because after you figure that out it will all come naturally. Think...... edge, pop, pass, and wait longer then you think you should. |

i am the slowest leaner ever, well at least when it comes to wakebaording, but it took me like 50 freakin trys, and about the same for backrolls too. _________________ set your goals high, you'll always have somethign to strive for. |
