| I've got a 99' Mastercraft Sportstar and am thinking about a Tige 20V or 22v of the same year I don't know much about the Tige. It sure looks well thought out. I just don't know about long term quality. |

I have been looking at 20V's and have had a few posts about it. Check out the search tool at the top of the screen.
I haven't heard any negatives about either. They both have huge wakes. Plenty of room. Nice fit and finish. Haven't driven one though, but they look amazing in the showroom. The 2003's have 10 year lifetime limited warranty on the hull. Plus, most people don't keep boats for more than a few years. I am speaking of 2003 btw, I don't care for any of the older one's. I'm looking to get a 2003 20V when the 2004's come out. _________________ Ride harder...

My opinion is similar to anti-shoobies's. I have been doing some serious shopping this year and my first choice is the Tige 20V. I guess Tige changed most of the hulls this year, so a 2003 is different than the older models. I compared them to Moombas, Mastercraft, and Nautique and this just seemed like the best boat for us.
I have liked Tige since about 1997 when I first saw them at a boat show. Back them I was skiing at college and they were impressive boats and they have only become better. I think you will like either boat, so check them out. _________________ Again? Yes.

| All I can say is that I got a 93 Tige SLM Comp, slapped a pole on it and 8 people and am reallt impressed. I'd have loved to get a new boat but just don't have the bucks. I've ridden behind a Nautique before, but as far as owning Tige goes.... I'm quite happy with it. |

Parents have a '98 21i, a buddy has a '02 21v, both are great boats. I have an '93 SN, but when I decide to buy a bigger boat, Tige will probably be it for the price/quality. _________________ Don't look at me in that tone! |

| The 20V or the 22V began in 2002/2003. The 20 V is new, the 22V is the successor to the 21V. Both new models have new hulls to change the wake shape some. their quality has improved dramitically over the years, ust make the dealer you get it from will take good care of you. That seems to be the breaking point on any boat purchase, regardless of brand. |

| We bought a 2002 20V last year and have put about 120 hours on it. We haven't had a single problem. We love the boat and after looking at every other make out there, it's one of the best built boats going. Go test one in chop and see how solid the ride is. It's a heavy boat because of the wood stringers, but that gives the boat a great ride and feel. Don't worry about all the negative stuff you read about the wooden stringers. I know 4 other tige' owners and they all love their boats. Highly recommend 'em. |

i rode behind it at the byt and the wake was sick. the floor plan was interesting. i did not like the tower or the power the boat had. maybe that was because it was slapped full of people and fat sacs, but it did take about 30 seconds to plain out. _________________ i know less than half of you less than half as i should like,

| I have a 2002 20v and I've put 350 hours on it already with only one minor problem. It's solid, runs great, and the wake is sweet. It also puts out one of the best wakesurfing wakes out there (along with the 22v). |

I've got an 02 21V with 225 hours and no problems. Boat throws a great wake and drives really nice. _________________ "Have you ever noticed that waffles are just pancakes with syrup traps?"

| I have a 2003 22V and I can't say enough about this boat. The wake is great - definately up there with the Super Air, etc, and you can't beat the layout, space and storage. |

| i'm looking at a Tige also....the 21i-R. I was lucky enough to ride behind a 22v this past weekend. AWESOME boat. the craftmanship, finishout, details and design is top notch compared to others out there. Everyone i've spoken to about tige or who owns one, are truly dedicated tige fans. |

I dont know why,but Tige gets alot of flack!! They are good boats with good layouts and a good wake. There warranty is top notch and they stand behind there boats, so screw everyone that has beef with wood stringer's!!!
Jeffro, I love the layout on the 21ir. I think that is the best layout of any D drive by far. _________________ If you wanna make it,

Funkster,
I hope that the FLACK is dying down. I think with the boats tige' is producing now, they are finally getting their due. If anyone looks closely at the new models, drives one or rides behind one, maybe those idiotic tige' bashing forums will go away! |

It is funny, I rolled my eyes when I first saw this post, and said "here we go again." I have owned 2 Tige's (2002 22ir and 2003 22V) and have nothing but good things to say about them.
I do know that Porter has 2 buddies with new SAN's and a buddy with a new VLX and they are blown away by the Tige and they all loved the wake.
It is good that people are finally starting to recognize what a good boat they are. |

I own a 2002 22i type-r and love the boat. The only issue we have had is the taps system hasn't work properly. The dealer has a new pump on order and that should take care of it. The room Tige' puts into their boats would make me choose this boat. I looked at Tige', Moomba, master craft, and centurion. Tige's price beat them all and the layout / room won. Plus the deal here in MN let us take it out for a test drive. One thing I would say is the dealer makes a huge difference after you purchase a boat. This is my first new boat that I have bought, but I can say a couple things I've seen. While cruising around I've seen a group of people in a Moomba and they were all elbow to elbow, which would drive me crazy. I've also seen that with a natique. Anyways I would say Tige' is a diffinatly good boat to buy for the price. I hope they make natique and master craft realize they're ripping people off. |

That's funny that you said that. 30 seconds is no time at all to get on plain when you have a boat full of people and sacks. The new X-star I was on took around 5 min to plain out with a full load and the ballast. I've been on Nauti's that have taken around 8 minutes. 30 seconds is great, I would be happy with that anytime. throw some surface 180's and hope down the wake and it's on plain, sounds great to me. I love Tige's, and I rode on the same on that jeffro rode on Sunday. That is a sick boat, great wake, excellent craftsmanship, and everything was just solid on it. An amazing boat. _________________ "What do you mean you're done for the night...Insomnia doesn't even open until 4. Get your $*** together Billy, cause the night ain't over!"

About 2 months ago when out visiting some marinas on the north side of Chicago, I saw a small dealership flyin' a bunch of I/O flags and a small Tige sign. I had to go in and see what the hype was about with the 2003's, since I was having a problem finding a local dealer. They had a 22V in the showroom...I was blown away! The boat was super roomy, looked fantastic, and was loaded to the brim with goodies. Granted, I didn't get to ride/drive one, but my initial thoughts are that I will definetly take a closer look when it's time to anny up for a new boat. I'm definetly interested in looking closer at the 20V also....did anyone get any price quotes on a 20V? _________________ www.MidwestMilitia.net |

| I rode in a 2003 22v for the first time yesterday with no weight, and I was blown away. The wake was amazing for an unweighted boat, I would imagine it only gets bigger and better with more weight. The thing I loved was how easy it was to drive, turns like a direct drive, and is so easy to hold speed even when you got a big guy behind it throwing raleys. It is My new favorite boat. |

I just bought a 21i and before I did, I took a tour of the factory, I live in Abilene. The boat's are extremely solid, and for 2003 Tige is giving a lifetime structural warranty, and if you have structural problems they give you $10G and a new boat. When my swim platform broke, they hooked me up in about an hour, granted I live 10 minutes from the factory. I'd say the dealer you go through will be very important in your happiness. It's a sweet wake unweighted, surfing is great behind it, and it's got a great factory stereo. _________________ A flute with no holes is not a flute, and a donut with no hole is a danish. |

| its good to see that the bashing of tige is over. Ive loved these boats for a long time but I think TIGE finally found a hull that will stick. I love the transition and the room inside is perfect. I hope this takes tige to the next level and gets the dues they deserve. |

I cant imagine any bad comments about a Tige except maybe from a competitor, they are up there with any top wakeboard boat in every measure. I got my first boat almost 30 years ago (OK, I'm an old fart but I look good in the air ) and have been working with boats nearly as long and I could not find anything I was not impressed with about the Tige boats. I've seen some comments about "wood stringers" like that was a bad thing but look at all the 20-30 year old boats still going strong and guess what their stringers are made out of? It's a non-issue.
The 20V and 22V are certainly world class wakeboard boats.

| The 21i and 22v will both throw awesome wakes, especially with weight, the 22V will just be able to hide more weight and have the V-drive configuration. The 21i is also quite a bit less than the 22v. |

Yeah, but the wakes are pretty much the same with weight?
I've ridden behind boath without weight and thought they were similar, but im just wondering if one gets bigger than the other with 12-1800 lbs. |

| You will have to weigh the 21i down quite a bit more to get the wake of the 22V. Of course the 21i is going to handle much better and has a different layout. The 21i puts out a very similar wake, but is much smaller until you really weigh it down. |

I am in the market for a boat, and have shied away from "the big 3"; perhaps I should take a closer look at Tige.
What is the shape of the Tige wake? Is it vert, or rampy? How wide is it compared to others (wider, narrower)?
Is the Tige wake skiable at 30+mph? I'm not looking for tournament quality, buoy skiing wake......just a nice wake for recreational skiing/hard cutting.
Thanks in advance. |

| 22V wake is steep, but with a pretty good progressive ramp as well. It's meaty and very hard. Take a test drive and ride for both skiing and wakeboarding. |

I'm with Drew, I rode behind a '03 22V with just the optional lead ballest, the water ballest tanks were not even filled and the wake was great and clean at about 22 mph. _________________ Fish naked, show off your pole. |

| Vandelay i live very close to Abilene. What dealership did you use to buy your boat. I did not think there was a dealership that sold Tiges in Abilene. I was looking at getting one but didnt know who to use. The closest i have found would be lubbock. |

Unmikie:
Don't know about the brand new tige's (mine is a 2000, 21V), the wake is wider than most other wakeboard boats, just because the boat itself is wider.
Don't know much about skiing, but the TAPS system is VERY convenient (you can change quickly between a skiing wake and a wakeboarding wake). |

Is the wake excessively wide to the point it is difficult to get across (at least for mere middle-aged mortals like me)? |

| No, it is not that wide. And if you still that it was that wide, just take 5 or 10 feet off the rope and you would be fine. |
