Is it possible to learn 360's by just jumping one wake? Obviously you can if you get launch way high in the hair, but my nastiest falls seem to come when I try to w2w. When I do one wake, I make the rotation, but lose the handle at the last minute. The handle pass is made, but always slips out of my hand as I land. Am i lying to myself or will it work?

you probably would wanna try re-entry 360s rather than one wake. i know its possible because ive seen danny harf do re-entry 540s and i heard hes come real close on re-entry 720s. its also possible to do just ollie 360s if you spin fast enough.

What do you mean by re-entry?

I can do one-wake/inside-out 3's. That's how I learned to do them, then I took them W2W.

Inside-out? How in the heck did you get enough air to pull the 360 off? I did you ollie out of the wake or something?

anti-shoobies, re-entry is when you jump off the outside of the wake straight up, and land right in the same spot, so it's like a mini quarterpipe.

89comp, I do inside out 360s all the time, they're fun. All you need to do is just put a little edge in the wake on your way out and you can pop nice and easy. It's easy to spin it with no line tension.

Speaking of the topic, I came to some nice rollers the other day in the lake, so I tried a 540, and got it! I was surprised. It was like a ts 540 cause I was cutting out on my ts edge. So yeah, spin all the time on little stuff, it's fun and helps you get consistent in your big spins.

toothpic-
Seems like the inside out thing would only work if you have a HUGE wake so that you get some pop + the height of the wake is enough to give you the air to do a 360. I've heard of some people doing 360s off and ollie, but they have to be ollie(ing) at least 3' to have enough time to spin.

Nah, I was doing inside out 360s the only time I ever rode behind a waverunner. That's like a small dip in the water, then back to flat. Ya just gotta spin it fast. I could already do them w2w, so I knew how they felt. But really, it's something you oughtta try regardless of what wakesize you have. It will get you good muscle memory, but most importantly it's fun!

And the best part about those, is that the wrecks don't hurt one bit. Very Happy

I agree with the wreck. Also, it seems like if you can pull a 360 inside-out, then a w2w would be CAKE!

It's just a lot bigger, harder handle pass, and slower rotation. It still helps you learn w2w 3's.

tomorrow night I'll be on the water. I got some good video of me smacking the back of my head when I would try to "roll off" the wake as I jumped. Bad idea. I'd immediately be off-axis, the board would catch the water behind me and I was toast. Ouch!

Hey, I just started trying 3's as well. I'm still landing in the middle on them, but I think I can finish it if I can just get that handle.

If I'm spinning to my front side (coming in on my HS), should I pass the handle behind my back to my left hand as soon as I leave the wake or wait until I start the rotation? Once I leave the wake I feel like I have no idea where the handle even is!

thanks,

SupremeWake, wait on it. To get the easiest 3, you want to pull the handle across your body with both hands for the first half of it. Then let go with your lead hand and turn your back hand over (so the back of it is facing down) and shove the handle across your back while grabbing in the same place with your lead hand.

You will usually have more time than you think to do the move, so make sure you wait til you're in the air to start it.
