Well I gave it a run last night and here is what I came up with:

1). snowboard + sandal bindings WILL float! The deck of the board rides right at water level, but it floats.
2.) Speed doesn't help.
3.) The snowboard was so squirrly it wasn't even funny. I tried to carve once, (see video) and it didn't hold an edge at all.
4.) You have to lean WAY back to keep the board from going under up front. Speeding up didn't seem to help this issue
5.) If you want to try something stupid to entertain some people...try it
