ive been wakeboarding and i can clear the wake now and want to try a 180, i know a HS fee;ls mor natural to jump, but the landing may be awkward. TS jumps dont feel as good, but the landing should be easier, which should i do first? _________________ La Jolla kicks a$$, its the best place in the world |

Hey jedama1210 -
I suspect to a certain extent it's a matter of preference. Personally I did TS 180's first because the landing was more stable. The best piece of advice I'd give you on those is commit; don't wuss out the TS jump and you should be fine.
Keep your eyes up and look at the horizon/shore - that might make those TS jumps feel a little better. _________________ "Practice, man, jus' practice" - Wynton Marsalis

If you start by just doing a 1 wake 180 then they are both pretty easy. Once you go bigger and start taking them w2w I think the ts is easier (assuming you can clear the wake consistenly ts). That's because you land facing the boat on the ts 180, where with the hs 180 you turn your back to the boat.
I see many people try hs 180's and end up doing more of a 90 - 120. As Minn said, you have to commit. Make sure you pull the rope to your back hip and get your shoulders and hips around, and land edging away. Otherwise you will slip out. |
