self install a tower?

How hard (and safe for your boat) is it to self install a tower. I've looked around a lil and I cant find anyone that installs them yet. It's prolly gonna be a titan or monster tower.

We installed the tower on my boat ourselves and it wasn't that bad. You're going to need at least two people and probably three to four would be ideal. On a 1-10 scale with ten being the most difficult, I'd probably give it a 6 or so. Just be sure you have the right tools and you triple measure everything because there's really no turning back once you put holes in the deck. We documented the hole thing in pictures so if you want more info, let me know...

I installed a wakedesign tower on our gekko boat. One thing that I did was I made sure that the tower (where you hang the rope) was centered on top of the ski pylon (direct drive boat). It was not that difficult to install the tower. When you drill the holes, make sure the fiberglass dust does not get into your eyes. It is also good to have a template of the tower bracketts. good luck, you can do it.

also, If you are planning on adding speakers at a latter date, I would go ahead and drill the holes in the tower for the wire. I did see on ebay, some good deals on towers. Type in wakeboard tower and look at them.

Check out our site as well as other peoples sites to see the instruction manauals. It will give you a good idea what your in for. Most customers say it took them 2-4 hours. If you have easy access to where the backing plates go without obstructions it will make it a lot easiers.

i just got done installing my monster on my 01' maxum a couple days ago. the tower install itself is not bad at all if you boat's fiberglass is thick enough to handle it without keeping you up at night worrying about it. i didn't feel it was good enough to just put it on so i glassed a board on to the boat and then glassed over that to reinforce my hull. the tower install itself would have taken me bout 4 hrs with 3 of my buddies but all and all with the fiberglassing it prob took 18-20 man hrs. it will vary boat to boat because of where you mount it and how hard it is to get to back there to do your fiberglass. if you have any mechanical skills you can do it without much prob, take your time and do it right or you may b fixin it later.
