Hey, everytime I try and do a backroll of the double up, I don't hit it right. I don't know what the deal is, on a normal d-up 180 or whatever it's no prob, but with the backroll rotation and everything, it's really throwing me off. I just don't hit it at all... Do y'all have any advice?

Just pretend your doing ur normal 180 off the double up, dont really concentrate on the back roll concentrate on hitting it.

well, the thing is that with a backroll, it's a different release than a normal wake jump. you're edging away from the boat, and it's this edge that screws me up everytime...

Pump harder off the last swell and up the wake, use that pump to release the board into the backroll. You kinda get thrown into the rotation that way but if you hit it right you should have time to spare to get under control for the landing. I think speed first and edge second to help me stay in control, use your cut to generate enough speed then really dig that edge in about 3-5ft before the spike.

This is a big area of inconsistency for me to, but when I get lucky on the timing - holy hannah is it easier to spot the landing from way up on high like that.

you should be very consistent with your timing on a double up before you even try to do a backroll off of it. i would go back and work on timing the double up before doing any tricks off of it

If you are consistent with your backroll you should try it off a 2up anytime the opportunity presents itself. Just be prepared for a plan-b recovery jump if you don't time it right. The worst that can happen is you will miss the release and land on your back, but look at it this way you are at the far end of your pass anyway!

well, I can hit the double up no prob normally. And with the backroll, if I don't hit the double up, I still land the backroll, just like a sloppy, ugly w2w backroll. The problem is I don't like sloppy ugly backrolls. I want big, nasty, scary looking backrolls that will cause me to soil my boardshorts...

...i'll kust try it until I figure it out.
