I dunno why, but i can't get the balance for toeside jumps. Every time i try i feel really off-balance and either wimp out or eat crap.
Is it just that practice makes perfect?
Secondly, does anyone have some good advice for learning to ride switch I can spin 180 fine, but i can't land cuz i can't ride switch. _________________

| I can't do crap TS either. I made a special effort to try this morning. In my case I think I need to quit worrying about falling and holding up the other riders and just practice it more. Similar for riding switch, I just make a special effort each time out to spend a little while riding switch and trying to visualize the feeling of riding normal. |

i suck at riding switch but as for the ts i have found that if you just go balls out and pop just like you would hs then it is not that hard. i am still not as comfortable ts but i have found that it is possible. _________________ I once saw a fork lift pick up a pallet of forks, it was way too literal for me. |

just keep your back straight, edge in progressively, stand tall at the wake and never let off your edge, land edging away on your toes...
as for switch, the more you ride switch, the better you'll be at it. _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.

well i can't ride switch at all... just tonight i went out and landed a 180 perfectly but rode about 2 seconds and fell cuz i can't ride switch, i can't get up switch, i go so slow i almost nose-dive and do a surface 180, i can spin that fine too i just can't ride switch, i can do butterslides but can't do a buttersilde 180 cuz i can't ride switch. any other ways to go switch besides a dock start?(i haven't tried one cuz we're in a bay where u can't have wake and u have to go out a little)

just practice deepwater switch starts until you learn to get up that way.
you must learn to ride switch proficiently, it's a part of progression _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.

would it help my butterslides to take my fins off? our wake isn't big at all and they kinda catch on the water sometimes. _________________

it's easier to do surface stuff with smaller fins. thats just physics.
as for your bindings, I would recommend putting them in the middle of your board, angled out about 11 degrees on both feet. This will make you able to ride just as easily reg as gooofy _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.

the way i learned to ride switch was just starting switch. then practice butterslide 180's until you can go switch for a while then take it to the air!!! _________________ [D [] [V] [D |

| Just go out there and ride switch. Dont try any surface 180's or ne thing. Just ride around switch. As for ts 180's , let go of your back hand and you wont go off axis. And go all out. Dont Taco Bell Chalupa down. Get your W2W ts down first |

Every one says they don't jump the wake, then when I see them ride they are trying to jump the wake like a snowboarder. i.e push off it. Hold a strong edge and ride up the entire wake, let the wake do the work. You can't cheat on TS like you can HS so technique is a must, chances are you are coming off edge HS also an can't tell for sure cuz you clear the wake.
numbfoot- you don't want your bindings set back or forward from the nose of the board, you want to be centered i.e. perfectly centered from nose to tail, Ducked out on each end will help.
Snowboard stances are set back from the nose for a reason wakeboards don't need that.
I actually close my front binding to like a 5 degree duck and the back one is open duck like 15 or so. This is specifically so when I ride switch my back foot which is now my front foot is opened up more. We can all ride regular fine so I square the front foot as much as I can stand. _________________ PEACE

Especially when landing ts, you need to land on edge and ride away, the way to do this is to look at the shore/horizon, not down. "glance at the water/landing, look towards the shore." I guarantee you cut your crashes in half if you do this. _________________ Check out https://www.facebook.com/darcizzleoffshore |

yup. "where the head goes, the body goes" if you look down, you're gonna ho down. Work on your ts pop, and when you get frustrated or you're in a rut, try riding around switch. If you post a video, we could all give you some advice _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.

Partyb, i started looking to the shore HS and i can jump W2W really easily now. Tonight i went and did some TS, and i'm starting to get comfortable. I can land in the middle of the wake now.
New problem, I went boarding with a friend tonight, and he kinda sucks. I don't care about that, but he landed almost in the middle of the wake, and said he almost went W2W. Should i rain on his parade and tell him that he didn't even get close, or not?
Last, but not least, tonight i had my best night of boarding yet. I got up about 5 ft. doing 1 wake grabs. I was landing 3/4 of the way across the wake. I'm learning good pop with our Seadoo, but i was wondering if you all think i might get intimidated if i go behind a boat. I haven't yet and i know the wake is a lot bigger. Any way to get used to it without going behind one?
Thanx for all the advice. _________________

It is definetely a big difference going behind an inboard. If you have the option, you can add ballast, and therefore wake size, slowly as you become comfortable. But it will definetely take a bit to get used to. Nothing to be intimidated about though, just concentrate on your technique and hit it. _________________ Check out https://www.facebook.com/darcizzleoffshore |

| The key to riding switch is first of all have your bindings equal length from the tips. You should always have that, just to keep your balance and stuff. When your riding switch, you have to really consintrate on keeping your weight on the back foot, and making sure that you have the proper technique. you should just get comfortable riding switch, when i ride i try to ride more switch then regular, and because of that i can actuially do more inverts switch. anyway, the 180. To land a ts 180, its really simple. You take a progressive cut, hard enough to clear the wake, but not out of control. The key to the 180 is having weight on your back foot, and cutting all the way through the wake. Once your in the air, drop your front hand, and begin the rotation. You dont have to whip the board around, you've got plenty of time to spin it. Land cutting away from the wake, and keep going. |
