I have a few problems i have with inverts if you have any advice please give it to me.
1.Tantrums-i can land them every once in a while but most of the time the handle just pops out of my hand and i cant hold onto it. And sometimes i cant land cause the landings are so hard. How can i land softer and keep the rope in my hands?
2.Backrolls-I have good pop, spin, and everything its just i cant land it. When i land im in the same position i take off in. I land like im cutting up the first wake and i just skip out.How can i get the board under me more and not skip out?
3.TS Frontroll- I flip them right and everything but i dont think i get enough air. I land on the board but i just slide out and fall on my butt. How can i stomp one?
Thanks again for any advice _________________ Yabba Dabba Dizzle |

can really only help you with no.2 mate. on the roll i find if you let go with your back hand just over 1/2 way thru rotation that helps alot. somebody posted that tip and it worked for me.
i'm almost exactly where u are with no.1&3. for what it is worth on no.1 i find the more you think about throwing your back shoulder parallel to the wake as you start to lift off, the easier it is to keep hold of the line. no.3 sounds like you need a bit more rotation. really try and get that trip feeling going by easing off just before the wake...and wait wait wait until u throw it. that's what they say!
good luck. nail'em!! |

ill try that on my frontrolls. Before i never really let off my edge at all i just cut through the wake. And on my backrolls i already do let go with my back hand and it still does it. SO what should i do then? _________________ Yabba Dabba Dizzle |

On the backroll, you really need to stand tall and the wake and push off. This will send you up with plenty of time to rotate and spot the landing. As soon as you spot the water, finish the rotation by bringing the board directly under you and land with a little weight on your heels. DO NOT land will all of your weight on your heel edge or you will be back to where you are now with the same problem. Just remember,
1. spot the water
2. bring the board under you (not in front of you)
3. Keep the handle in tight to your hips
Good luck. _________________ Mark Kenney, 1983-2002

Hi there, hope I can clear it up a bit...
Tantrum..... You want to keep your arm bent up like you are making a muscle, show off your guns. This will give you some space for when the rope tightens back up. It really helps if you can spot your landing some, because then you can pull in and brace for the landing. Try taking a bit softer cut so you land on the second wake's downslope, its nice and soft.
Backroll... Basically what Thomas P said. Again, spotting your landing will help a bunch because you can then situate yourself to land. Maybe try not letting go with your back hand, throwing it back like that may be centering your weight farther back on the board causing you to lose balance. Staying square to the boat is key.
Frontroll.... Ahhh, the typical frontroll problem. I fought with this one for nearly a year before I figured it out. Stay balled up. The rotation on a frontroll is not just 1 flip, its 1-1/4 flips. You have to do it like that so you get on your toes on the landing. Think about doing 2 rotations and diving into the water. Don't push your legs out when you see the water, or the treeline, open up when you are looking at the horizon you are heading toward. Method #2 for this trick is the consciously (sp?) come off your edge right at the top of the wake, it will throw you over if you do it correctly and you will nearly land on your head.
Hope this helps you some, feel free to email me if you have more questions... tiffany@glassandpowder.com
