Is there anything that I should do with the handle to make a high w2w jump?
(Some pulling or pushing down action etc.)
Or should I keep it in the same position all through the approach and jump?

My handle position is in a different position at each jump.
I’m trying to keep it close to my bellybutton but I can’t.
Most times my arms are straight pointing down at the water at the middle of the air.
(There is no tension on the rope , so I know that it is not good)

I think it is linked to the direction I straightened up when I release the wake.
Which way is the correct direction to straighten up.
(A little bit to your backside or vertically up or some other direction)

ANY TIPS PLEASE.

um if u ur hands are out in front of you, then u won't be on balance, u want to cut in to the wake and edge through the wake. if you do then your rope will be tight

Masa, this is what I have from Landon Rocks:

I recently discovered pushing my hips up to the handle (and pulling the handle to my hips) and now I am absolutely flying, about 6-7 feet. Its all about control man, try it slow and focus on a progressive edge.

Basically, I guess the point is to push your hip up to the handle or so called release your hip, stand tall and maintain a slight bent on your arms and keep the ropes tight.

Also, I have heard that if your ropes aren't tight in the air, it's probably because you have came off your edge too soon and flatten our your board and did not EDGE THROUGH THE WAKE.

And here's my thread and many has contributed to it...:

Thanks for the tips.
I'll try it this weekend.
But a little more details for "releasing my hip"" please.

During the approach I think I’m leaning back a little.
I have to straighten my legs when I release the wake , but which direction?
Vertical to the level surface? Or a little bit to my back side?
Or shouldn’t I even think about this direction thing.

Thanks for any advice.

PS
YES, I’m living in Japan. I think Wakeboarding is getting popular every year.
There are a lot of places that has a towing service around the lake I usually go.
It costs about $50 for 30minutes towing per person. (15min towing x 2)
Expensive, isn’t it?

Masa:

To release your hip means you go from a seated position to a standing tall position. If you happen to have an issue of WAKEBOARDING MAG, look at the June 2003 issue and the May 2003 issues for loading and releasing as well as standing tall.

Don't think about the direction. Simply think about the fact that as you progressively edge in towards the wake, the last few feet will have you in a seated position and as you see the bubbles before the crest, release your hip (push your hip towards the handle) so your hip will no longer be at a 90 degree angle. Standing tall means leaning back on the rope with your knees rolled forward and your hip, shoulders and knees are pretty much in-line with each other (though not exactly since you lean AGAINST the rope a bit). Just think of it as going from a seated position with your hip BEHIND your board to a standing tall position where your hip is pretty much DIRECTLY OVER your board. When you leave the wake, remember to keep a tall position so your body is PRETTY MUCH directly over your board, keep silght bend on arms and push the handle down and land on edge with more weight on your back foot.

Yeah, 50 bugs US is expensive... and I assume it's a cable facility or is it a tow boat?

A small correction, I think this is what he ment, "you don't want to change your edge at all! you want a nice slow progresive cut at and through the wake.

Keep working on the progressive edge and you will get the air you are looking for.

Thanks for the tips.
I went wakeboarding this Saturday paying about $50 for being towed by a boat.
I think 1 or 2 jumps were higher than my usual jump. But most of my jumps didn’t go well . Checking the VIDEO I found that my handle was really out front of my body.
I’ll try to keep my handle close to my body next week.
PLEASE LET ME ASK
1. Exactly where do you keep your handle during the approach and jump?
2. To make it easy for me to imagine please tell me where you elbows are.
3. Is it only your arm muscle that keeps the handle close to your body?
4. Or is there an easy way to keep it close to your body.

Is it able to find the issues of
" WAKEBOARDING MAG of June 2003 and the May for loading and releasing as well as standing tall""
on internet?
If it is please tell me the URL ,
If not,I can't get that mag here in JAPAN so please tell me what was written in it.
