Malibu vs. Tige

we have a 98 malibu wakesetter v-drive. It is MONEY. we've had the new ballest tanks installed and we are probly geting the wedge this summer. The wake is super right now but with the wedge it will ge GINORMUS. (sorry i had to make up a word) oh yeah engine had 400 hours when we got it and we have added 250 more with no probs. well 1 prob, malibus have kinda weak alternators so we had to replace that, which made the lights brighter for riding at night time. Sorry for being so wordy, but i like malibu. Im not gonna bash the Tige but it's really not comprable. my 2 cents.

I have a 2002 Wakesetter LXi, she is a good boat. Bought it brand new and no troubles so far only have 112 hrs on it though. But she is only 4 months old so it has been through its paces.
Tige has pulled the last few big comps here and i have been impressed with them but they had close to 2 tone of weight it them though.
We only ride with the wedge, 250kgs in the bck, 100kgs in the front and about 8 people and we get a solid huge wake off the back.
I dont think you can go wrong either way you choose.

I am not sure what people mean by mushy wakes, but I have the smallest Tige they make ( 2001 20i ) and yes it does require some ballast manipulating to get the wake just right, but I love my wake. I ride 80 feet behind my boat at 24 mph and the wake is anything but mushy. If the boat slows a little the lip starts to curl, but at 24 the curl is about 3 feet behind me. The wake is steep, and after a few rides, no one has any complaints on lack of transition. The wake is very solid and with a variety of boards it gives you incredible pop. I put 700lbs of ballast in it with the taps around 5. For the money I spent, I have progressed nicely behind an entry level boat. I would definately ride behind any boat behind you spend the money on it.
