do it on a trampoline first!! This will get u mentally prepared as well as makes u comfortable going upside down. tie ur rope to a tree and practice landing in the center of the tramp. Commit to the jump!!

dont let people push you into tricks that you are not ready for. get your skill level up and then when you want to try it, try it.

You have nothing to fear. The falls do not hurt, at least nothing that you cannot handle. Just go out and try them when you are ready. I would go out and take some lessons, and get feedback from a good rider. If your progressive edge isnt good enough, forget about backrolls.

If Uncle wants to see one so bad have him give it a go....

You will know when you are ready to try the trick cuz it will be all you will think about for at least 2 entire sets before you actually try the first one. You should be able to visualize the entire trick in your head and be fairly certain you will land it.

Then just go for it.

Maybe not the best advice to 'LAND' the trick ..but to get over the 'fear hump' come into the wake on a slight edge, edge into and off the wake and just initiate the roll by looking over your lead shoulder....then let go of the handle. This won't be as intimidating and you'll see how the falls are not really that bad.
BUT when you do go for it...do not let go of the handle...it is the key part of the backroll.

With a name like studlystud you woulnd't think there would be a problem with fear!! j/k Visualizing the trick over and over is key. Once you can think through every step of the move in your mind, it is just a matter of allowing your body to do what you see in your head. Whenever I am trying something new, I will go out and try to land a few tricks I already know as big as possible to get my confidence up and then just go for it.

Best way to overcome "fear" or anxiety to try new tricks, besides blindly (and stupidly) saying "go for it," is to increase your skill level. When your skill level has reached a certain point you will not be scared to try it. You will have a certain confidence that you will land it, or at least make an honest attempt and land somewhat on the board.

all i can say about backrolls is that you have to be comitted. you have to be mentally comitted to the trick and make yourself rotate around. if you wusy out halfway through it could be bad. just comit.

Definalty agree with that you better be completely sure of yourself before you try inverts.

try it at low speed first, there is no way you can get hurt, and then that will make you more confident about being inverted
