I need help with my wake jump. I've been working on edging, and I got a shorter rope but I still can't clear it. I ride behide a ski/fishing boat, is that a factor? Please help me

yea i had a very hard time learning a wake 2 wake jump.

first off start to carve out really aggresively on your toes until you cant anymore. keep your handle low and at your front hip through out the whole jump.

then stand up let the boat drag you in about 3-5ft then start your progressive cut towards the wake. your hardest point of the cut should be at the wake.

if you dont let off your edge and you pop off the wake rite you will clear the wake by far. you will land in the flats if you cut at a good progressive edge.

to pop of the wake you want to be squatted down through your whole cut. when you get to the wake simply straighten your legs. don't try to jump or you will lose your balance. plus it will look super ugly.

well now you know what to do so good luck!

/hey I ride behind a 20ft fishing outboard boat and I pull 180's and stuff what you need to do is increase speed of he boat and decrease length in your rope till you consistantly clear the wake then slowly slow down more and more or let out more and more rope.

I'd go here for good advice... http://forums.wakeboarder.com/viewtopic.php?t=9076

Also, I ride behind a sea-doo jet boat and I can land w2w 180's and methods, nosegrabs, tailgrabs and stuff like that... So no, until you reach another level of riding, the boat isnt TOO important... it sure helps thoe!
