| I know lead weighs 11.3 g/cm^3. Now if I only knew the volume of a 2lb coffee can I could tell you. Since water weighs 1 g/cm^3 you could fill the can with water and weigh it, then multiply by 11.3 |

| moblsv is mostly correct. However, for the sake of precision you wouldn't want to scale up the weight of the water + the can. Weigh the can, weigh the can with water. Multiply the difference in wieght by 11.4 and then add the weight of the can. |

On a related note: I'd put the lead in something else if I were you. A coffee can isn't the most user friendly thing: shape, edges, lid. I'd go with 3-4" galvanized pipe or something like that. It's probably pretty cheap at Home Depot. You could even drill some holes and bolt a handle on there.
I'm guessing, however, that it is too late...unless you are asking a completely random trivia question. |

The answer is... 65 pounds.
Salmon: the coffee cans actually fit perfectly under the bow seats... I'm going to wrap them with duct tape so they don't rust, but after they're under the seats, it's unlikely that I'll be moving them again.
I have 4 PVC pipes that I'm making that are lined with galvanized exaust pipe like you use for a furnace chimney... they're about 2 feet long and 3 inches in diameter. The exaust pipe keeps the molten lead from melting through the pvc while it's cooling.
the 3-4" galvanized pipe costs too much to make the project economical... a 3 foot section of 3" pipe costs about $20 at depot if you want it threaded.
for that cost, you can just go out and buy pre-made lead-hedz
I'm still looking for a more cost effective solution so I can make these and sell them to local boarders... I have a source for basically free lead. (just the cost of gas in my truck to go pick it up.)
