dont do it.
by the way you are responsible for any damage that results from the board flying out of your rack and hitting another car/biker/homeless guy. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

I see guys around town that do it and it does look cool, but as soon as a board comes off, they will probably get sued and they'll have to buy a new board....ouch!! Bad idea to leave them on... _________________ 1989 Supra Comp TS6M, 06 GLI for haulin'.

I do not know...really...it just does not seem like it should be up while is transit. I think I would be more comfy with it down that is all... _________________ Ride Harder...Bottom Out! |

I do it and have had no problems. We only drive 4 blocks to the lake though. I feel if you don't go over 45 which is what we do when it's butter in the morning what are you hurting? Just my opinion though.
As to towing with the tower down, every time you hit a bump tht thing would bounce up and down on the sundeck, probably cause more damage while it's down. Again just my opinion.

Well, I never thought that they would come off. I put them in the board racks and bungie them down and go 75 to 80 mph and they ride great. One thing that I do worry about, is my dumb ass forgetting about the tower and pulling through Jack in the Box and tearing their cover off. Some fast food places have a 7 foot only drive through. I have lost a pair of sun glasses that got sucked out of the boat. _________________ Sorry for laughing!

I leave my boards on but I only live a few miles from the lake. I only drive 35mph tops because I am too lazy to take down my bimini. _________________ Calabria Boats Rule! |

When we are going to a lake that is far away then I put the boards in the truck. But if we are just going to the lake by my house I leave the boards in the racks because it is only a 5 minute drive. _________________ NOR*CAL |

You can trailier with towers up or down, it's really more of a personal choice. I'd definately recommend taking boards out if your on the highway, it's not worth the risk. Very little chance of one coming out but . . .
On short trips where I know I wont be going over 35 I'll leave everything up and in. On longer trips I put the tower down and cover the boat for two reasons. First - Cleaning bugs off of my tower & boat windshield takes longer than covering it up. Secondly - My boat has this wonderful "feature" that the cushions all start flying out at about 65.
