|
|
I've been trying to land these HS FS 180°'s for three days in a row now, and I always seem not to get enough rotation... I know I gotta keep edging as I land, but I can't seem to do it... I always land somewhat parallel to the rope... What can I do?
Any help appreciated!

I'd have to try... Probably no, but I'd have to try... That comes first? Allright. I'll try that later tonight! Because my pop is all good, I don't go off-axis, the only roblem is the landing...
Oh and I practiced my switch riding a lot on today's run...

Yeah I made some inside-out 180's while I was at TWC, I can also bunnyhop 180 and ts 1 wake 180...

| It is really simple. Just wait untill you are at least half way across the wake and then pull the handle to your back hip, and land. If you do it earlier you probably won't land and ride away. Just do a nose grab and bring the handle to your back hip. That way you will only have one hand on the handle and will rotate better, and it will make you wait.

| I dont think you should try a grab when you cant w2w yet, just a though once you land one then feel free to throw one in, but he is right let go with your front hand but a grab will just throw in another complication.

| I started by going inside out, then going outside in one wake. after i felt comfortable with both i just started taking the one wake a little further each time. Once you start to land on top of the other wake (the hardest place to land) youve got it. Just go a little harder.

This is a really common problem for people just learning to do 180's. A couple of things can help - first make sure you are balanced when you leave the wake, most people jump with too much weight on their back leg (if you almost always have your back hand come off the handle on w2w jumps this is the cause). Next drop your front hand as Mike suggested (meaning the front hand as you leave the wake so that as you land you'll only be holding on with your "new" front hand). And finally, think of turning your hips not the board. Many people think that they are getting around when they are never really turning at the hips. You need to commit!
It's really easy to practice these inside-out (jumping from inside the wake to outside the wake) first then trying them w2w.

Like everyone else has said, just get as much speed as possible and then ollie 180 off of the top of the wake into the flats. This will give you the basic idea of what its like to land a wake to wake 180.....good luck next time bro

ride swtich for a while cuz alot of people get the spin down fine but then cannot ride switch so they skip out on the landing and eat it......

| on hs 180s i almost try to over rotate them because i usually dont rotate them enough and land at less of an angle then when i left the wake and i usually slip out.

Allright! Tried again today to no avail, but the river was so choppy I didnt have much of a chance... Letting go of the front hand helped last time, but I'm gonna try to "over-rotate" it next time, hoping its gonna help... I'm also working a lot on my switch riding...
Damn it's so hard landing these the first time!
And thanks for all the advice!!! It's appreciated a lot!

WOOHOO!!!
I finally got it today!!! I'm soooooo happy! Tried that "overrotating" trick and it worked!
Here are some pics!
The pop sucked because I could'nt put any weight in the boat today, so the wake was a big pile of crap...

You could try doing inside out 180's, those help for doing w2w ones. And in your pic your grabbing with your back hand it looks like, can you 180 with grabbing with your front hand because there easier.

The only thing I can think of to get something more consistent is practice practice and practice!
Thats what I'm gonna do thoe!
You could also videotape it and look at it to see if you're doing something wrong... Thats probably what I'm gonna do...
