boardin w/o a tower

Hey,
Im a beginner boarder and i am havin trouble clearin the wake, i have done it before but cant seem to do it consistently, does any1 have any tips for people without a tower

progressive edge and good pop. the fundamentals apply whether you have a tower or not

keep working on the fundamentals, i have a little outboard without a tower and now i clear just fine and even high enough to try a couple backrolls on it now and again.

i would say try to make your wake as big as you can an make big turns toward the wake and you should be able to clear it, it kind of depends on what boat it is, i like poles much better though

Yeah I am having trouble clearing the wake as well. I don't have a tower. I was boarding with like a 51' line. I'm going to shorten it to about 45' or 47'.. I know I can clear it there. I am getting about 2 or 3 feet. But i kind of hold back while going at the wake. I don't know why. Sad

can I have some tips?

grokwik, oh my god you are so full of bull stuff. I can guarente you've never ridden behind an out board, nor have you ridden behind something without a tower. Hell, with the stuff your talking, you sound nothing more than prissy rich boy/girl who has no idea of the fundementals of wake boarding. You probly go throug life with you daddy getting you everything. Sure, mabey you have a nice ski boat, and board, but with the complete crap your talking your gonna get someone hurt. Dear god!

1. "U need speed to jump far."--- Far from correct, If anyone is thinking of trying this, save your self the pain inflicted by a face plant. You need very litle speed to jump W2W. And it is true, the faster you go the harder you fall.

2. "U need acceleration to go high."--- Since when? All you need to get huge air is to keep your progresive edge going (not fast) at a steedy pace, keep your legs slightly bent and let the board and wake do all the work. If you try to accelerate, for one your a dumb-ass for beliveing this boy/girl. and two, you wont even make it to the wake because you will alredy be squated down in the water waiting for the boat to turn around and pick you up.

3. "So use a combination of both"--- Seriously, this is self explanitory if you read the last two pharagraphs.

4. "If U can't clear the wakes, shorten the line."--- OK, maby, but not nesseseraly. You want to be right where theres a good combonation of a narrow wake, and a tall/clean wake. If you have a new rope, yes shorten it. But say you got a new boat with a new wake, you may have to bring the rope back a litle. (thats why you dont wanna just cut the rope.)

OK, I have nothing els to say, just get out there and have fun.

if you cant go w2w you may be driving to slow. what is your boat speed and rope length.

Thanks for some of the tips guys, i really worked on my progressive edge and had the driver speed up a little i was definetly goin 2 slow now i am starting to clear the wake more consistently but i need to start going bigger and farther into the flats, i also sped up a littlethanks for all the help

Yeah it get much easier to clear the wake once you get past 20mph. Most noobs dont feel comfortable going faster so they end up not being able to get enough speed to clear the wake and it is too wide for them to clear it and they end up getting frustrated. You just need to get used to riding about 22mph or so and at that speed up to about 25 it will make the wake narrower and it will make it easier to get more speed. You just have to get the boat speed and the rope length the way you like them.

Boat speed:20-25mph
Rope Length:70-85ft(unless you have a small outboard or jetboat where the wake isnt big enough at those distances.

I agree is gatsby. If you do what dw says your gonna wipe out so bad you wont wanna wakeboard for a week
