The refs have seemed awful flag happy from what little preseason I have watched so far. It seems like every time I would flip to a game a flag was being thrown every other play. The OL/DL hands to the face penalty being the most frequent. _________________ RIP DLS.

Sam Bradford out for year after tearing his L ACL for second time in a year... Sucks for him and Rams fans.

S loads of illegal contact penalties as well. It will be interesting to see how this transfers to the regular season. If the NFL is committed expect looooong games and a record statistical offensive season. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

Don't worry, we are used to it.
That said, Shaun Hill is definitely not a terrible backup. With the defense the Rams have, it might not end up as bad as it looks right now.
Given the division, it's not likely that they will go very far. Hopefully they can get over the .500 mark and make it respectable. _________________

If SF's offensive woes continue in the regular season Harbaugh will probably die from an aneurysm. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

F the rams fans. I'm speaking strictly of the STL rams fans, not the ones that hung on even after they left LA. STL rams fans are the f'ing worst for reasons I could spend 1,000 words going on about.
The rams fans who have been with them since they played in Anaheim Stadium are exactly the opposite. Can't imagine a more loyal or passionate group of NFL fans. _________________

pet575, here's to hoping they do reverse Georgia's bitch ass mistake and move them back to LA.
It's a longshot... at best. The NFL should have stayed put and blocked that move. I mean really, what a dumb ass move. Yeah, lets move from the #2 media market to the #twenty-something. Still pissed off about that nonsense... _________________

I can't but anything ESPN puts out in which a bunch of fanbases glory-boy themselves to win a meaningless "award." And F THE COLTS. They are bandwagon as they come, riding #18 all this time. Wait until their Luck runs out in a few seasons and see if they are still #6 on this venerable list. And how the hell are the old franchises with long-tortured fanbases who still STRONGLY support their team (like CLE, BUF, MIN, and KC) not on this list? What a crock of stuff.
If you look at what I was saying, though, I'm talking about a very specific group of people: LA Rams fans who are still fans of the team despite the fact that they've been gone for nearly 20 years.
There used to a be a Baltimore Colts Fan Club and a Cleveland Browns Fan Club that existed prior to their cities getting teams that replaced their departed teams. I'd say the same thing about them if their situation remained the same today. _________________

I dunno...seems like the criteria was pretty thorough to determine a strong fan base.
Quote: | The Forbes rankings were based on the hometown crowd reach, social media reach based on the area's population and three years' worth of Nielsen television ratings, stadium capacity percentage and merchandise sales via NFLShop.com. |
I get what you're saying about old LA Rams fans and agree. When I was a kid, I remember rooting for them. I think I even had one of those helmet, pads, jersey kid sets. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

I agree with that list being horseshit.
Anyone know what a "Milwaukee ticket" is for a packer game?
That's right the pack sucked so bad in the 70's 80's and early 90's that they used to play half there home games in Milwaukee. Now the season ticket packages are split into Milwaukee and Green Bay groups. They couldn't draw enough to "the frozen tundra" to keep all the games there. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

How many of those tickets were sold after it was announced that Manning would not play that season? I'm not disputing Colts fans' interest in the team, I'm making a statement that it is a modern trend for Indy to be a "football town" when you compare what it was like from the mid-80's to the late 90's. Further, compare the entirety to that of CLE, BUF, MIN, etc. I don't want to hear about how amazeballs your fanbase is over the last 15 years, many of which just happen to coincide with a certain Hall of Fame QB playing there.
But still, F THE COLTS AND THEIR HORSE-FACED FORMER H.O.F. QB!!! _________________

eeven73, I remember that when I was a kid and never understood why they did that until I got older. Back when I thought everyone was playing because they loved football and didn't understand how much money was involved. _________________

a lot. i don't know how many single game tickets are available, but they had several thousand to sell for the playoffs last year. i'd assume most season ticket holders buy their playoff tickets, so the number is probably similar.
also, with indy's suckage in from 1984 to 1998, i think it's relevant that the team was brand new to the city in 1984. there wasn't the established fan base that teams you mention have had since the 60s. now, we have a generation who grew up with the colts being a home town team so i'd imagine fans will stay loyal even when the team sucks in the future. |

You're probably right on that front. On top of that, there really isn't a lot of competition for them as each new season starts since basketball doesn't come into play until the season is roughly halfway over.
Plus, it is the NFL-which is completely untouchable right now. _________________

Right. The most recent 20+ years of passionate and loyal Packers fans attending and selling out games, both home and road, regardless of location and weather conditions, is completely irrelevant. An entire generation. Lets completely forget the early years of the NFL, and decades long season ticket waiting list while we're at it too. Total horseshit. |

I would say KC, OAK, SEA(excluding last year) have showed up as well as anyone for less on the field than any on that list. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

You gotta put BUF up near the top of the list, I think. Those poor bastards lost 4 straight Super Bowls and are in the midst of a LONG playoff drought. And, if I remember right, the memory of their last playoff appearance is "Homerun Throwback" is it not? _________________

that wasn't a good start for the colts. i went to bed at halftime, but it looks like they played a little better in the second half. i'm going down for the mnf game next week against the eagles, so hopefully they get it together before then. |
