disconnects from younger generation

Not quite 40 yet and had a couple of midlife crisis inducing moments in last few months.

1.) At my wifes ultrasound the tech said, " your baby is in the corner", I immediatly retorted, "no one puts baby in the corner." Waiting for the pending histerical laughter I was disappointed when the tech said, "oh ok". It hit me she was too young to get the Dirty Dancing reference. Crying or Very sad

2.) In vegas playing blackjack and a newly engaged couple joins the table. After 20 min of small talk there birthdate comes up. They were born the year I graduated highschool. Sad

I told my wife I need a Corvette. Laughing

Such a shame about the DD reference. Who cares how young they are, they should see all those cult classic 80's movies.

This happens with my gf sometimes.

Today, she didn't know about Popeye, about how he gets his strength from spinach and all.

She only knows the songs I know b/c she has played them on Guitar Hero.

Yeah, this happened with some girls I dated when making pop culture reference and they look at you like "wtf are you talking about?"

At my wifes work they were talking about Curt Cobain dying awhile back, I guess it was like the 20 year anniversary or something, and one of the girls didn't know who Nirvana was. Laughing
