World Cup is always fun. I typically hate soccer, but just like the Olympics, every couple of years it is fun to celebrate and cheer on our country! |

| Quote: | Combining both the ESPN and Univision numbers means the game had 24.7 million viewers, which may have set a new record for any soccer game broadcast in the United States. (That mark is held by the 2010 World Cup final, which attracted approximately the same amount of viewers on both ABC and Univision.)
As a comparison, the average late-afternoon Sunday football game on Fox averaged 27.2 million viewers in 2013. |

| He had an 8 game suspension that carried over to the start of the premier league this past season... But that came from England's FA, not FIFA. |

close enough!
biter!
| Quote: | The Liverpool striker has caused another storm, after apparently biting an opponent for the THIRD time in under four years.
During Uruguay's must-win World Cup clash with Italy in Natal, Suarez was involved in a clash with Italy's Giorgio Chiellini, and apparently took a bite of the Azzurri defender's shoulder.
The latest incident comes just 14 months after Suarez was handed an 8-match Premier League ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic. Suarez was also handed a seven-match ban for biting Otman Bakkal in a Dutch league match between Ajax and PSV Eindhoven in November 2010.
Suarez is one of the current Liverpool squad who have been working with Dr Steve Peters, a sports psychiatrist who has worked with the likes of Ronnie O'Sullivan and the Great British cycling team also.
Sports psychologist Dr Thomas Fawcett, of the University of Salford, said last year - following the Ivanovic episode - that he expected Suarez to bite another opponent within five years.
"I would think that in five years' time if there was a certain nerve hit or chord rung with Suarez in a different situation he would react in the same way," said Dr Fawcett. |

Both charts awesome....
Brazil goes down a lot, gets up quick. US spends almost 3 times as much time on the ground writhing on each foul.... At least we're not the French, but we already knew that..... |

That is still unbelievable to me. I read that some guy predicted that he'd do it again within 5 years, looks like it didn't take near that long... |

| it sounds like ghana are falling apart. muntari and boateng were sent home after they got into at in training. muntari was already suspended for today's match, and kpb has been worthless so far so that's not really big news. what is big news is that there are reports that the team are upset about their pay for their appearance at the world cup. they demanded the ghanian fa send $3M in cash to brazil to be divided between the players. one report says that players chased a ghanian official around the team hotel with broken bottles when the cash didn't come through. yikes. |

That is an awesome workplace! I'll be in court all day, will get updates on the computer, but no way to watch.... Maybe I'll get to catch some at lunch...

we weren't expected to make it out at all. We won one, tied one and lost to a very good German team by 1. I'd say we survived and did what we needed to. _________________ Work SUX! |

ya. we advanced when we weren't supposed to, but we looked like crap against ghana and germany. survive and advance is the motto at the world cup though.
looks like we'll be playing belgium tuesday. hopefully it goes better than it did in cleveland last summer. |

you're a bit harsh s23! we played the #3 team in the word in a rainstorm on 3 days rest after playing in manaus - germany had 4 days rest and played in a real city, not an amazon outpost. our defense was nothing short of awesome all day long! yes, offense looked bad, but our offense sucks - we make hay off of set plays and corners and we couldn't get many of either today.
bring on the belgians and their shltty beer! |

Honestly, I doubt it. The few oportunities we had against Germany, our passing was terribly off again. We looked damn good against Portugal after they scored their first goal. We attacked and looked crisp. I don't know how much the rain caused todays issues, but they were there. _________________ Work SUX! |
